Mani had staunchly campaigned with the hope of winning the polls. He also had borrowed Rs 50,000 from his neighbours for his poll expenses.

Following the incident, the Sattur town police department had lodged a case and initiated a probe into his death. 

BJP has secured a councillor seat out of 200 wards and the majority of the seats were swept by the DMK, which is all set to reign most of the local bodies in the state.

The opposition party is witnessing yet another magnificent victory of the DMK, which is all set to reign the local bodies including the ADMK's stronghold.

DMK is marching towards a magnificent victory and as of 11.30 am, the party has been leading in more than 70% of the entire urban local bodies in the state. 

Amid making headlines, Sharif had also urged everyone to cast their vote and he also expressed his wishes for candidates who are contesting in the polls.
