As the latest restrictions write a prefix for the possible complete lockdown, they had sparked an inevitable question - Is Tamil Nadu in need of another complete lockdown? 

The Chennai Police have highlighted to the residents that the lockdown and curfew would be enforced strictly and the movements of the residents would be monitored by the patrols.

In a tone of warning, the health minister had likened the spread of the variants to Tsunami on Thursday, when the state has got imposed with the new set of restrictions. 

The development of rising cases has come when the state is going back to the lockdown era with the new set of restrictions that came into force on Thursday - January 6.

Tamil Nadu will be imposed with a complete lockdown every Sunday and the state will have a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am every day from Thursday.  

Earlier, Rajamouli's magnum opus 'RRR' has announced that it won't get released on January 7 as previously scheduled due to the rise in the Covid-19 cases.

Radhakrishnan added that the protocols will help the health department in managing the patients and keeping beds in higher centres reserved for critical patients.

As the variant is pacing its spread rapidly, the packed population poses a huge challenge to the Delhi government in curbing the spread. 

As RRR's release has been postponed, Valimai is all set to give a big opening for the cinema in 2022 as it has become the first big movie to hit the theatres in the New Year.

In light of the third wave, the state government has reinstated several restrictions and is mulling to enforcing night curfew to curb the spread.
