The local residents had developed a suspicion that the vaccine doses that are meant for them in PHCs were diverted and sold to the garment factories.

Covishield is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India in Pune while Covaxin is manufactured by the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech in collaboration with ICMR and the National Institute of Virology. 

In line with that, some of the banks have now announced that they will increase the interest rates of the deposits of the people who received the vaccine.
