Suriya is always an inspirational figure with the audacity to take a risk and a tenacity to revive back stronger both on and off the screens. Suriya, the actor with the stardom, has been known for his bold move in reacting to the societal issues, picking the stories, and producing the movies and he had never doubted his boldness in choosing the move and the movie. He has again reflected his boldness in reprising the life story and taking it to the hands of every audience.
'Soorarai Pottru' (Praise the brave) is finally out on Amazon Prime Video amid carrying much expectations from the fans and audience. Despite being the first big Tamil movie to get released directly on the OTT platform, how's Suriya bold move in acting in a new storyline in Sudha Kongara directorial, and whether his move and acting are brave enough that it deserved to be praised? Let's review...
The movie starts with the struggle endured by Suriya in landing his out-of-fuel aircraft. Sudha scores here as she took off the story with the movie-concerned introduction than the actor-concerned introduction. From Suriya's struggle, the movie travels on different clouds of Maara - his life, love, air force job, his ambition, and politics.
The first half revolves around the curiosity of advancing us into the rest of the life story of Maara. Aparna Balamurali lives to the role through her splendid role-play of Boomi. Aparna stood aside from the typical role of the female lead through her impudent acting, kudos to her.
Suriya gives goosebump moments through his dialogues that he speaks when he is chasing his dream. "Uriyadi" fame Vijaykumar has written dialogues for the movie. Unlike his preceding movies, Suriya stands close to our hearts by speaking about on-ground politics. Throughout the movie, Suriya has shown that he had worked hard and put more amount of effort into the movie and he occupies the entire movie while some of the other roles exemplified their perfect presence in the movie.
When we see the screenplay as a whole, there may be some flaws and if it could have been added with perfect ingredients, it would have been dubbed as the master-piece. While the movie had a perfect take-off in the first half, the second half had seen some turbulences as it reduced the curiosity of the story, but Sudha had a perfect finish in the climax which had vanished the flawed clouds and shown clear sight for success.
It's knowable that Soorarai Pottru is based on the life story of Captain Gopinath, retired Indian army personnel, and the founder of low-cost airline 'Air Deccan'. However, the movie hasn't fully revolved around the entirety of his life, rather it was perfectly mixed the scenes that can be admired by young generations in chasing their dreams, an interesting treat for the audience. The rest of the crew had perfectly delivered justice to their role.
GV Prakash Kumar must be specially credited for making the journey with his expertise music and besides the songs, he also had won the hearts and skies with his needy but powerful background music while Niketh's work must be commended as his cameras had rightly made the movie look classy. Sudha's magic had worked out in climax and with the thrilling finish, she has completely buffed out the tiredness and presented a movie full of an awe-inspiring and admiring storyline.
Finally, Suriya has succeeded in his bold move by making the movie a significant one in his career and having a perfect take-off to touch more heights and more victories. Suriya is always inspiring and proved that his braveness deserved to be praised both on and off the screen as on the screen, he chased the dream of reaching more heights while off the screen, with his boldness, he succeeded in his struggle of releasing the movie directly on the OTT platform, making the movie as the first big release in Tamil cinema on OTT and with the success, Soorarai Pottru has indeed become Suriya's blasting birthday gift to his fans and the audience.
