With the motive of enhancing the party's base and the stronghold in the state ahead of the urban body elections, the ADMK party's central leadership had convened a meeting to discuss with the party cadres and members. The meeting held on February 10th at the party's headquarters in Chennai and it was chaired by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and party's joint coordinator Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister and party's chief coordinator Panneerselvam.
However, on February 9th, exactly one day before the meeting at Chennai, the ADMK Thanjavur district unit had organized the meeting that ended up with a series of rustles and turned out to be meet against sitting agricultural minister of state Doraikkannu, who is also the party's secretary of Thanjavur north district. The state minister had chaired the meeting that was held in Kumbakonam in Thanjavur on February 9th and the meeting had the presence of South district secretary and MP Vaidhyalingam and the sitting local level secretaries, MLAs, and MPs.
The party members who have been rivaling against Doraikkannu have taken the meet as the prospect and slammed him and some of the members close to Vaidhyalingam's camp had indirectly blamed the minister for the recent loss in the rural local body polls despite being the ruling party of the state. While addressing the meeting Vaidhyalingam took a stance against the minister. He said that every member of the party should work with a conscience. Vaidhyalingam cited that the enemies can be defeated but the betrayers can't be.
When we questioned the ADMK member of Thanjavur district about the ongoing turmoil, he said that it's becoming habitual for the state ministers to caught up with controversies whenever they speak and these controversies have been damaging the reputation of the party and these ministers have been queued up with the allegations of corruptions and Minister Doraikkannu is one among them. The Minister has been letting his family members play in politics. Both of his sons and his daughter have been dealing directly with the minister's department and in his district.
Despite rising his heirs, he has also been allegedly involving in caste politics and he has been strongly working for the betterment and the development of the party men who belong to his caste while he stays off from the rest of the party men and communities. He has been accused of awarding the contracts to the DMK member who belongs to his caste. Our sources reveal that the ADMK members who belong to the other castes and communities had moved their petition to the party's central leadership to take action against the minister. In their petition, they alleged that the party had lost the rural local body polls due to the minister and urged the leadership to take action against the minister if it wishes to win in 2021 legislative elections. When we reached out to the minister himself, he stated that the meeting was concluded in a good way.
