‘Soorarai Pottru’ and ‘Jai Bhim’ which were released direct-to-digital platform, will be getting a re-release in cinemas soon from July 22 - 24. The special screening was announced to the actor's fans in celebrating his birthday on July 23.  Both films were released straight to the OTT platform due to theatre restrictions during pandemic times in the country. 

'Soorarai Potru' is a biopic directed by Sudha Kongara. The film revolves around the efforts taken by businessman GR Gopinath to provide air services to the masses on a low budget. The music for the film is by GV Prakash. Full of emotional scenes, the film won the hearts of many. The film starred Suriya, and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles while Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, and Karunas play the supporting roles.

The theatrical release of the movie was postponed several times due to post-production delays and the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie was released through Amazon Prime Video (OTT Platform) on 11 November 2020, coinciding with the eve of the Diwali festival. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the songs and background score for the project. Niketh Bommireddy is the director of photography. Sathish Suriya has handled the editing.

Next Year, 'Jai Bhim' was released, which is a brilliant courtroom drama of an inspired real-life case of retired Justice K Chandru on tribal community. Directed by TJ Gnanavel and bankrolled by Suriya, the film tells the true story of a crusading lawyer - played by Suriya - who fought for a petition filed by a pregnant woman whose husband was placed in police custody and later declared missing. Released in November 2021 last year and was critically acclaimed by positive word of mouth for its narration, casting performances and storytelling.

Both flicks of Surya were well received praise across the nation on its OTT platform. On the occasion of Surya's birthday on July 23, it was reported that these films will be specially screened in theatres in Tamil Nadu from July 22 for two days. Along with this, many welfare programmes will be organised by Suriya's fans across Tamil Nadu.

Adding to this special screening announcement, the latest reports are surfacing that the movie team of the actor's next Vaadivasal is planning to release a glimpse video of the test shoot on Surya's birthday on July 23. Vaadivasal is helmed by the National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran for the first time which is an official adaptation of a popular Tamil novel of the same name. The actor, who is busy shooting for director Bala's project, will star in TJ Gnanavel, Siruthai Siva, Ravikumar and Sudha Kongara's films in the future.
