In a shocking piece of news, the police department of BJP ruling Tripura had arrested three men for trying to murder Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. The officials had confirmed the arrest and a case has been filed against all three assailants on the charge of attempting to murder. The incident has happened on Thursday near the Chief Minister's official residence and the police had on Saturday affirmed that the men were arrested.
According to reports, the three men had driven a car through the security cordon of the Chief Minister when he was out on evening walk near his official residence at Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Lane on Thursday. After knowing that he has come under attack, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb had managed to jump aside as the vehicle hurried past him.
While he had managed to evade, one of his security personnel had sustained minor injuries. The police had said that the Chief Minister's security detail had tried to intercept the car but, they couldn't. A probe was launched to nab the men for attempting to murder the Chief Minister and the police had arrested three men late on Thursday from Kerchowmuhani and the vehicle they used has been seized.
A case was filed against three of them under the charges of attempting to murder. They were produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate PP Paul on Friday and the police had taken the three under judicial custody for 14 days for further investigation. Speaking to PTI, Assistant Public Prosecutor Bidyut Sutradhar said that police remand was demanded for two days for interrogation.
However, the court has remanded them to judicial custody till August 19. By citing that the motive of the three men, all in their mid-20s, were yet to be ascertained, the Assistant Public Prosecutor stated that the police would interrogate them in jail to know their motive behind driving through the security cordon of the Chief Minister.
