Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's ambience has been filled with tense and troubling moments ever since his son Aryan Khan was arrested earlier this month in connection to the drugs case. 23-year-old Aryan Khan has been in incarceration at the Arthur Road Central Jail in Mumbai since October 8 after he was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
After the back-to-back rejections of his bail pleas, Aryan has approached the Bombay High Court to secure bail. Amid such developments, Shah Rukh Khan has on Thursday met his son Aryan in the jail for the first time since he lodged behind the bars. According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan was accompanied by a couple of their lawyers and the father-son duo meet has come a week ahead of his bail hearing in the High Court.
Their meet had lasted for 15-20 minutes following which the actor had exited the prison without responding to the media queries. Khan's first time meeting with his son since he was arrested had drawn national attention even as NCB has been issuing summons to several celebrities to tighten the case. Aryan Khan was detained on October 2 after an NCB team, led by its zonal director Sameer Wankhede, had conducted a raid, based on a tip-off, in a rave party on board Cordelia Cruise that was en route to Goa from Mumbai.
The team had raised the cruise ship, seized drugs, and arrested Aryan Khan and others, who were at the rave party, under the grounds of possessing the drugs. Aryan Khan was arrested on October 3 and he was initially taken under NCB's custody and on October 8, he was moved to the Arthur Road Central Jail based on a court order. Aryan Khan had made several attempts to secure bail, however, no bail was granted to him and others.
A special court in Mumbai has on Wednesday denied bail to Aryan Khan after which he had approached the Bombay High Court. Aryan Khan and two others - Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha have been booked under sections 8(c), 20 (b), 27, 28, 29, and 35 of the NDPS Act. On Wednesday, the court had rejected the bail and said that his WhatsApp chats had revealed he was indulging in illicit drug activities. As his bail petition before the High Court will come to the hearing on October 26, his father Shah Rukh Khan has met him in the jail on Thursday.
However, hours after Shah Rukh Khan's prison visit, the NCB had visited and searched the actor's residence, known as Mannat in Mumbai. According to reports, the officials of the NCB had visited the residence of Shah Rukh Khan and conducted searches, hours after the actor had met his son in the jail. It has been reported that the officials had conducted searches in connection with the drugs case and they checked for some documents related to the case of seizure of drugs onboard the cruise ship.
As Aryan Khan has been named as 'Accused No 1', the search at Shah Rukh Khan's residence holds significance. The search had lasted for 20 minutes after which they left the residence. NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede has said the NCB team has visited Shah Rukh Khan's residence to collect some documents related to Aryan Khan. Besides searching Shah Rukh Khan's residence, the NCB officials had also conducted searches in the residence of actor Ananya Pandey in connection to the drugs case. She was later summoned for investigation and she had arrived at the NCB's office in Mumbai along with her father Chunky Pandey.
