The Madras High court's Madurai bench had granted the bail for two more medical students on Wednesday, who have been accused with proven allegations of hiring impersonators to appear for NEET examinations and on the other hand, the Madurai bench of state's top judicial body had refused to consent bail for the fathers of the two students by observing that the fathers have been forcing their children to pursue medical studies through malpractices through which the court had named them as the first accused in the case and not the students.
Both the students who got bail had scored 130 and 120 in their NEET exams respectively and after brought under the scanner of investigations, the CBCID department of Tamil Nadu, which probes the impersonation scams have suspected that the students would be been replaced by the alternative persons while writing the entrance exams following which the police department had detained the students along with their fathers and later, the father and son duo had tabled their bail petitions in Madras High court and by dismissing the bail for the fathers, the court had let their sons to walk free by considering their age and their future.
The Madurai bench of High court headed by Justice Swaminathan had asserted the bail for two more students after the same bench was awarded the bail for first student Udit Surya on October 17th, 2019. He was the first student who was detained along with his father Venkatesan, from whom the investigations had screened the names and conspiracy of alleged impersonations in the state. While hearing the bail plea of Udit Surya, Justice Swaminathan had accused his father Venkatesan as main and primary accused for reportedly misleading his son on committing malpractices to clear NEET exams and the Justice had took his age and his future into consideration for granting him the conditional bail while dismissing his father's bail plea. In his verdict, Justice had instructed Udit Surya to appear before the Madurai Deputy Superintendent of Police daily.
The case of first impersonation had come to the spotlight by revealing the drama and the loopholes, where the Dean of Theni Medical college had filed a legal complaint against the first year student Udit Surya after the suspicious conspiracy of citing difference of the photograph in the application and his real appearance, after which the police department had booked the student and his father under the charges of alleged conspiracy following which the scam had exhumed shocking scenes since then.
The Dean had filed a police complaint against the son and the father duo after which the probe has been transferred to CBCID police that had detained Udit Surya and his father and based on their confessions, the police team had arrested about ten people including students and parents through which the state has been uncovering the presence of massive scam that had led Madras High court to issue directives to the state government to re-verify the applications and profiles of about 4,250 first year students who have been admitted to various medical studies in the academic year of 2019-2020.
