After hearing the bail petition tabled by one of the prime accused of alleged NEET impersonation Udit Surya and his father, the Madras High court Madurai bench had today relaxed its hands on the student by granting him with conditional bail while his father remains in jail for the proven involvement in committing the malpractice.
In its directive, the Madurai bench of the state's top judicial body chaired by Justice Swaminathan had considered and observed the age of the student Udit Surya under which it had bailed out from the prison and further ordered the student to appear before the CBCID's office in Madurai daily at 10.30 am until further orders have been pronounced.
While the court had let the son to walk free from the prison, it had objected to consent the bail for his father Venkatesan by citing the importance of the case and to identify other suspects through his confessions from the interrogations as based on their statements, the special police team of crime branch division had surrounded and detained more students across the state that had revealed the rampant presence of the racket on the grounds of NEET examinations with the view of securing admissions to pursue medical studies.
The case of first impersonation had come to the spotlight by revealing the drama and the loopholes, where the Dean of Theni Medical college had filed a legal complaint against the first year student Udit Surya after the suspicious conspiracy of citing difference of the photograph in the application and his real appearance, after which the police department had booked the student and his father under the charges of alleged conspiracy following which the scam had exhumed shocking scenes since then.
Through the interrogations, it was exposed that the father of Udit Surya had played strong role in bribing the agent towards hiring an impersonator who later appeared for NEET examinations in place of Udit Surya and after clearing the exams, Udit Surya got admission ticket to pursue MBBS in Theni Medical college and it was after three weeks when the college management had identified the suspicious allegations through the mail that was reportedly sent by the fellow student.
The Dean had filed a police complaint against the son and the father duo after which the probe has been transferred to CBCID police that had detained Udit Surya and his father and based on their confessions, the police team had arrested about ten people including students and parents through which the state has been uncovering the presence of massive scam that had led Madras High court to issue directives to the state government to re-verify the applications and profiles of about 4,250 first year students who have been admitted to various medical studies in the academic year of 2019-2020.
