The state of Tamil Nadu woke up today with the red alert warning in most of the districts as the Northeast monsoonal rainfall gets severe into the hands of devastation and by citing the possibilities of heavy to extreme rainfall, the Regional Meteorological Center in Chennai had issued the warning of havoc which had pictured the grounds of destructive season that replace the festive season.
On Monday, while issuing the warning, the meteorological department had said that the isolated, remote and hilly areas of Tamil Nadu will likely be showered with extremely heavy rainfall that includes the hilly areas of Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni and Dindigul districts. The department had stated that the rest of the districts like Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Vellore and Thiruvannamalai districts would record with heavy to very heavy rainfall during the course of the warning.
Addressing the reporters on the latest predictions and developments, the director of Cyclone Warning center had cited that for the next two days, most of the areas in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will register with heavy rainfall while most of the Southern districts like Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Ramanathapuram will downpour with extreme amount of rainfall whereas districts like Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Salem, Madurai, Erode, Theni, Dindigul and Tiruppur will be watered with heavy rainfall.
With the huge possibilities of extreme rainfall, the meteorological department had advised the fishermen living close to the south west Bay of Bengal and in southern districts not to sail on the sea for the next two days. It had further stated that during the tenure of warning, the state would record around 29 degree Celsius as maximum temperature while it will account for 24 degree Celsius as minimum. After having been issued with red alert, the state government of Tamil Nadu had directed the respective district administrations to flag the concrete precautionary measures and relief camps to tackle and to rescue the people from hilly areas under the devastating circumstances of landslides and the orders were sent to the district collectors to stay alert to counter the unprecedented predictions as the normal lives have been quaked in the hilly area of Ooty and the vicinities after the grounds of the hilly tourist destination was severely affected.
In the wake of unpleasant predictions and developments, Chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami had tabled a high level meeting with the respective authorities and the cabinet ministers to closely monitor the situations from ground zero. With having been mapped as one of the places for extreme rainfall, Ramanathapuram district administration had ordered all the schools in the district to shut down today.
