Downpour intensifies -Schools in these districts of Tamil Nadu shutter down!

In the wake of predicting heavy rainfalls, the schools and colleges in some of the districts of Tamil Nadu have been called off for Monday by the respective district collectors as the downpour of the Northeast monsoonal season intensifies.

The clouds of Tamil Nadu have been showering the state with steady and heavy rainfalls across its territory since last week that had increased the water level but on the other hand, brought unprecedented scenes causing major disturbances to the normal lives of the people as most of the roads have been accounting for water stagnation and rampant rise of Dengue epidemic. After witnessing continuous rainfalls, the district collectors of Coimbatore and Kanyakumari had declared holidays for all the schools and colleges on Monday while the collector of Sivaganga district had directed the schools to shut down on Monday. In capital region of Chennai, the district collector had said that the schools and colleges would function normally.

On Sunday, most of the places in Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram, Chennai and in Tuticorin districts were recorded with heavy rainfalls where Kuzhithurai in Kanyakumari district had seen the highest amount of rainfall in last 24 hours that had shown the grounds of Southern Tamil Nadu may host unprecedented rainfalls in coming days. The Indian Meteorological Department had pictured its forecast on last Saturday in which it cited that the remote places of Tamil Nadu will encounter heavy to very heavy rainfalls on Monday and Tuesday along with the thunderstorm.

The state Chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami had issued orders to the district collectors of the Southern districts of Tamil Nadu to flag precautionary and counter measures across the districts by citing the prediction of heavy rainfalls for the next few days. In his order, he further instructed the collectors to rescue the people from remote and interior parts of the districts and to station them in relief camps.
