In a shocking piece of news, popular Tamil comedy actor Kalidass has on Thursday passed away in Chennai at the age of 65 due to cardiac arrest. Kalidass's acting with legendary comedy actor Vadivelu had won several hearts across and beyond the borders and he was suffering age-related ailments for the past few months and was getting treatment. Besides his comedic appearances, he was better known as a dubbing artiste as he has worked as a dubbing artiste for thousands of movies and he had mainly voiced for antagonists.
His demise had saddened the Tamil film industry as Kollywood had marked the loss of yet another pivotal artist in recent times and the fans and fraternities are paying tribute to the deceased soul. Kalidass's comedy scenes with Vadivelu in the 2004 film 'Jananam' are still popular among fans even today. In the movie, Kalidass had played the role of inspector and Vadivelu would seek a lift from him to drop him at a particular place. Vadivelu would insist Kalidass go in no entry by claiming that the area inspector was close to him without knowing that Kalidass was the inspector.
His comedy scenes with Vadivelu as a person collecting the interests of debts are also popular among the fans. Being a prominent dubbing artiste, Kalidass's voice is very popular in the serial 'Marmadesam'. In the 1980s, Kalidass had voiced several antagonists in many films released during that time. He has done dubbing for over 3000 movies and he has finally given dubbing for a character in yet to be released movie 'KGF 2'. It has been reported that Kalidass had also spoken for the same role in the film 'KGF 1'.
He has played the villain in the television serial 'Soolam' aired on a Tamil channel. Amid getting treatment for his ailments, Kalidass had breathed his last on Thursday evening at the age of 65 due to cardiac arrest. While his wife had already passed away, he was surviving with his son Vijay and daughter Bharghavi and the last rites had taken place at his residence in Porur. Several celebrities and fraternities had expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased actor as Kollywood has lost one of the ace actors.
Well-known actor Mohan Raman took to Twitter and paid his tribute to Kalidass. He wrote, "A VOICE THAT WILL NOT BE HEARD ANYMORE. RIP - Kalidas, Actor and Dubbing artist. A person who gave a boost to many Villains through his Voice passed away. Aum Shanthi." Nadigar Sangam has also confirmed that Kalidass had passed away.
