At long last, the highly anticipated follow-up to Mani Ratnam's epic masterpiece, Ponniyin Selvan, has graced the silver screen on April 28th, 2023. The historic drama, featuring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Trisha in the lead roles, has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. The film has also set the box office on fire with its impressive collections across the globe.

Industry estimates put Ponniyin Selvan 2's opening day international earnings at a stunning Rs 38 crore. With an estimated Rs 17 crore in box office earnings, the film has been a huge success in Tamil Nadu. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Kerala  have all reported healthy box office returns for the flick.

The international debut of Ponniyin Selvan 2 was a success, with the UK box office reporting a gross of £228,472 (2.3 crores) on day 4. The film has been distributed in over 3,200 theaters across 4 continents, and there has been a massive demand for tickets.

The film boasts of a stellar star cast that includes Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Vikram Prabhu and many others. The film has been produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, with music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by Sreekar Prasad.

Ponniyin Selvan 2 is the second part of Mani Ratnam’s adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel of the same name. The film narrates the tragic love story, web of political intrigue and betrayal and the rise and fall of the Chola dynasty and its impact on the history of South India.
