One Year of Vikram! Makers share a special video of the Ulaganayagan starrer...

It’s been a year since the release of the action-packed thriller Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Kamal Haasan. The film, produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, also featured Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles . The journey of Vikram has redefined the cinematic experience and Turmeric Media took to Twitter to share a special video celebrating #1YearofVikram .

They wrote, "The #1YearofVikram journey that redefined the Cinematic Experience. #Ulaganayagan #KamalHaasan #Vikram #VikramAllTimeRecord". The film was a gigantic leap for director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who made an impressive directorial debut with Maanagaram in 2017 .

The story follows a black ops squad led by Amar, who is assigned to track down a group of ruthless vigilantes. When Amar investigates the case, he realizes it is not what it seems to be, and following down this path will lead to nothing but war between everyone involved.

In an interview with The Hindu, Kanagaraj spoke about directing his idol Kamal Haasan in Vikram and the challenges he encountered during the making of the film . The film released on June 3rd 2022, and made a huge collection at box office.

He mentioned that he had never worked as an assistant to a director and had never gone to film school. Instead, he maintains that he learnt filmmaking by watching Kamal Haasan’s films. In his four-film-old career, he admits to having written all his characters with shades of Kamal in them, drawing also from Kamal’s movie characters except for one film: Vikram .

Kanagaraj is heavily influenced by the 1990s Hollywood films he grew up watching, such as Predator, Rambo, Terminator and the Die Hard series. Like how today’s kids enjoy Marvel and DC films, these action films had a lasting impact on him.

When he started making films, he was influenced by Kamal sir’s Sathya. He was very particular that Vikram shouldn’t be just another action flick…he wanted the impact to linger on . The new Vikram is a full-blown action extravaganza. The initial pressure Kanagaraj had was to meet the expectation of fans. Even though he made it clear that he was a fanboy, he knew making a film with Kamal sir wasn’t an easy task.
