Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has on Monday got surfaced with more tension as his son Aryan Khan was sent to jail under judicial custody in the drugs case. The Khans battle to secure a bail to avoid custody was met with failure as a Mumbai court on Monday awarded judicial custody for Aryan Khan, a day after he was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under the grounds of possessing drugs.
On the evening hours of Saturday, the NCB brass went undercover and raided a rave party that was held on board the "Cordelia" cruise that was sailing from Mumbai and Goa. The raids had lasted for an hour and the NCB officials had seized 13 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of charas, 22 pills of MDMA, and 5 grams of MD. The PTI had quoted an official of NCB and said that the drugs were found hidden in clothes, underwear, and purses.
The NCB had taken eight people including Shah Rukh Khan's 23-year-old son Aryan Khan under its custody for possessing the drugs as Aryan was at the party onboard the cruise. All eight were arrested on Sunday and the case was filed against them as the development had drawn major attention from across the country after Shah Rukh Khan's son has got arrested. Aryan has been accused of the purchase, possession, and use of banned substances. Following the arrest of Aryan Khan, Bollywood actor Salman Khan met Shah Rukh Khan at the latter's residence in Mumbai.
On Monday, the NCB had produced Aryan Khan and others before a Mumbai court and the counsel appearing for the NCB had said to the court that the agency needed Aryan Khan in custody till October 11 to question him and the NCB had also alleged that the case involves an international drug cartel. The agency said, "Unless we investigate the consumer, how do we know who is the supplier, who is financing it."
The NCB further said that the links in the form of chats show the involvement of the international cartel. It is a group of persons and added that code names were found in Aryan Khan's chats and links to bank and cash transfers that had to be verified. Arguing in the matter, Aryan Khan has said that he was a special invitee to the cruise ship and that he cannot be included in the case. Aryan has said that the officials had only found chats on his phone and WhatsApp chats without any recovery hold no significance.
Aryan's counsel Satish Maneshinde has said that the son of Shah Rukh Khan hasn't involved in any drug usage. "One of the grounds for asking my custody is the seizure of commercial quantity from other accused. Commercial quantity seized from other accused cannot be foisted on me and they are talking about international drug trafficking which is a very serious charge and has to be backed by evidence," Aryan Khan argued.
After the hearing, the judge of Mumbai's Esplanade Court noted that "Investigation is of prime importance and it needs to be carried out. It benefits both accused and investigator." The judge had then denied bail to Aryan Khan and ordered the anti-drugs agency to take Aryan Khan and others under its custody till Thursday - October 7. According to reports, Aryan Khan was calm while his friends Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha had begun to cry when the judge announced the custody. It must be noted that Aryan Khan's parents Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan did not attend the bail hearing.
