To all who successfully survived 2020, A big Virtual Hugs for you! This year proved to be an exceptionally difficult year with lockdown, unthinkable storms, floods, forest fires, and political events. 2020 had almost made us be a complete homebody due to this whole year.

Despite the fact, we were comfier by staying home; Nevertheless, 2020 seemed like a truck snagged up in mud and couldn't pull up and steer ahead. It gives the whole world a 'pause button' for events/things to happen and to shelve things or get canceled.

In case, if you missed a few things to notice, let's take a look at major events that didn't happen in 2020,

The global pandemic has put a break for the world's biggest sporting event:

Japan has inferred that the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but at least not later than summer 2021. The world's biggest and grandeur sporting event has got deferred from its schedule for the first time after the World War. While the battles between the countries had postponed the games previously, the war of the entire world against the invisible enemy has pushed to defer the Olympiad. The opening ceremony had been planned for July 24, but the Olympics Committee and the host country Japan said that the games are rescheduled to safeguard the health of the athletes.

The invisible enemy had closed a mega sacred site for the International Pilgrims:

Visiting Mecca is the ultimate life goal of every Muslim believer and do the hajj. Each year, the sacred site would welcome lakhs of pilgrims to the Arab nation. But this year had pushed the pilgrims across the globe to brace up the ban from the Saudi government in wake of the surge of COVID-19 cases. While Saudi Arabia permitted those who are living in its territory to visit the site, it has closed its borders for the international pilgrims. Hajj 2020 will be held from July 28 to August 2 and people living in Saudi Arabia had attended the pilgrimage.

UEFA is also the victim of COVID-19:

UEFA had indefinitely suspended the Champions League, Europa League, and Euro 2020 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. EURO 2020 was primarily planned to take place in 12 cities across Europe from 12 June to 12 July 2020. The proposed new dates are from 11 June to 11 July 2021. Existing ticket buyers and hospitality clients will be reconfirmed by UEFA that if they cannot attend the tournament in 2021.

For the first time since World War, Wimbledon championships had missed 2020:

The 2020 Wimbledon Championships', which was originally scheduled for 29th June or in the late summer of 2020, got deferred owing to the pandemic. The Committee of the Championships said, "Uppermost in our mind has been the health and safety of all those who come together to make Wimbledon happen. Wimbledon has canceled for the first time since World War Two. The 134th Championships will instead be staged from 28 June to 11 July 2021.

Busy Cannes Festival goes deserted:

The global reputed Cannes Film Festival didn't escape the global pandemic after it has got postponed owing to the outbreak, leaving the streets of Cannes to go dark and deserted. The festival was scheduled for ten days from May 12 to May 23. While the festival was deferred to June, it was later announced that the film festival won't take place in June. The organizers said that it's clearly difficult to assume that the Festival de Cannes could be held this year in its original form. However, the festival has got eventually canceled for the entire year, the first time since 1968. The festival was canceled in 1968 for the first time due to the nationwide student riots in France.

Star Wars Celebration halted amid war with COVID-19:

Die-hard fans of Star Wars were upset about the cancellation of the celebration event, which was initially scheduled to take place in August 2020 at the Anaheim Convention center in Los Angeles, got postponed to August 18 to 21, 2022. The unprecedented deferment of two years was, of course, triggered by the global impact of COVID-19. The event organizers said that they had made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration for 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. They had also announced that fans who had purchased tickets to the 2020 event have the option of requesting a refund or transferring their tickets to 2022.

Modi's complete year in India:

Ever since taking the office of the Prime Minister of India, incumbent  Narendra Modi has been steering his term with one of the accusations that he has been making more overseas trips than any other Indian Prime Ministers. In the last five years, the Prime Minister had visited almost all the countries in what the BJP said was his bid to strengthen the ties with the global countries. However, 2020 had pushed Narendra Modi to settle for a new normal of shaking hands with the foreign leaders virtually.

Yes, 2020 comes to an end by becoming the first year that Modi didn't visit a foreign country since 2014. According to data from the Prime Minister's Office website, Modi hadn't made a single international trip in 2020 until November 22 and he has now been closing the year without crossing the Indian borders for the first time since 2014. The Indian government has bought three exclusive Boeing 777 aircraft for the President, Vice-President, and Prime Minister. The aircrafts had landed in Delhi recently and Modi's special plane 'Air India One' is yet to take off with having the Prime Minister on board.

Donald Trump's House:

Despite the fact that the US Electoral College has declared Joe Biden as the President-elect after winning the 2020 Presidential elections, the year is going to bid the farewell without witnessing an apparent admission from Donald Trump that he has got defeated. Along with the COVID-19 storm, The White 'Trump' House has triggered a political storm in the United States with Trump and his allies had directly assaulted the Democratic process and refused to concede the defeat. With no doubt that Biden will be sworning-in as the 46th President on January 20, Trump still upholds his stubbornness and going to celebrate the New Year with his best friend 'rhetoric'. If Biden uses forces to oust Trump from office, it would be the least surprise.

So these are a few things that didn't happen in 2020 or we can say it's failed to happen. Despite these, When picturing that if 2020 can also make the pandemic situation to get failed too, it will be a piece of sweet news for us all. Right?
