DMK President and Opposition leader of Tamil Nadu assembly MK Stalin has been enhancing the party's efforts of providing relief materials to the affected people amid the lockdown as the opposition and its allied parties are eyeing to cement the base strongly among the people.
The DMK leader has also been finding prospects to slam the ruling government on all the spheres including its countermeasures and the procurement of the protective mechanisms which had, in turn, sparked tensions from the ruling camp. Since the state has brought under lockdown, according to our sources, Stalin has been actively engaging and discussing with the allied leaders towards providing relief to the affected people.
Despite the state government has denied the permission to organize the all-party meet, Stalin hosted the virtual meeting with the leaders on placing various demands to the state government. Most of the DMK MLAs and MPs have been on the ground and distributing the relief materials. DMK's Youth Wing and one of the senior leaders Kanimozhi have been rolling out the measures to the people.
Stalin has launched a new initiative of what can be called as the "Namakku Naame 2.0". The new initiative has been named "Ondrinaivom Vaa" (Let's come together) and it aims to ensure that the affected people get an uninterrupted supply of essentials including food and relief materials.
Through the fresh initiative, DMK hopes to help at least 10 lakh families every day and our sources reveal that the initiative has been designed and crafted by the Indian Political Action Committee led by Prashant Kishor. The opposition party strongly believes to reach 4 crore people through the initiative as DMK has been unleashing various mechanisms to stay active and close to the people amid lockdown which had, in turn, bothered and concerned Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, who is aiming to retain the power in the state.
The Chief Minister has been getting reports from the state intelligence which put the developments circling the opposition party. The agencies have been altering Palaniswami that the DMK has been enhancing its base through the initiative.
Based on the report, the Chief Minister held discussions with Pannerselvam, one of the party's coordinators, during which he said that most of the ministers haven't fully engaged in providing relief materials to the people in their regions apart from some of the senior ministers that would let the reputation of the party diminish among the people. After expressing that Stalin has been enhancing his base, the two leaders had accepted to formulate fresh strategies to counter the game played by MK Stalin.
