The much-awaited trailer of Sriram Raghavan's upcoming film Merry Christmas has finally dropped, and it promises to be a gripping ride of suspense, romance, and twists. The film, which stars Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, is a bilingual thriller that has been shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi. The film is slated to release on 12 January 2024, coinciding with the festive season of Pongal.

The trailer showcases the chemistry between Kaif and Sethupathi, who play two strangers who meet on Christmas Eve and fall in love. However, their seemingly perfect romance soon turns into a nightmare, as they get entangled in a web of lies, secrets, and danger.

The trailer also hints at the involvement of a mysterious third character who seems to have a crucial role in the plot.  Merry Christmas marks the first collaboration between Kaif and Sethupathi, who are both known for their versatility.

Vijay Sethupathi, who has been ruling the town with his diverse roles, has also impressed the audience with his fluent Hindi and his effortless charm. The film also marks the return of Raghavan, who is widely regarded as one of the best directors of the thriller genre in India. His previous films, such as Andhadhun, Badlapur, and Johnny Gaddaar, have been critically acclaimed and commercially successful.

The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Kewal Garg, and Jaya Taurani, and distributed by Lyca Productions and Pen Studios. The film's music is composed by Pritam,  while the cinematography is done by Madhu Neelakandan. The film has been edited by Pooja Ladha Surti, who is also the co-writer of the film along with Raghavan.

The film's trailer has received a positive response from the fans and the critics, who have praised the performances, the direction, and the thrilling plot. The film has garnered buzz due to the differences between the Tamil and Hindi versions of the trailer, which have subtle variations in the scenes and the dialogues.

The Hindi version co-stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand. The Tamil version has Gayathrie, Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in the same roles. Merry Christmas is expected to be one of the biggest hits of 2024, and a perfect gift for the fans of the thriller genre. The film will be released on Netflix, post the theatrical release, as the OTT giant bought the digital rights for 60 crores.
