The urban local body polls in Tamil Nadu are around the corner and as the entire state is going to elect the representatives for the grassroot government institutions, the election is going to get unfold with multiple fronts from the national and regional parties to the independents. The polling will be taking place on February 19 and the last date of filing nomination has ended on Friday - February 4.
Amid a hectic filing of nominations, there were several events that won everyone's attention over its fashion with several candidates depicting veteran leaders, Goddesses, and most of the parties had awarded seats to the transgender community and to the young people, including collegegoers. In the club of young people is 21-year-old Rajasekar, who is currently pursuing his final year B Tech in textile technology.
A native of Salem, Rajasekar will be contesting in the ticket of Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam in the 25th ward of the Kumarapalayam municipality in Salem. He had filed a nomination on Friday with the dream of serving people in his area. The next day, he had got into the chase of another dream- getting a degree. On Saturday, after filing the nomination, Rajasekar has arrived at his college to write his semester exams.
Expressing his desire to serve people, Rajasekar said that he has full confidence that people of his area will support him. The urban local body polls will be held on February 19 and the votes will be counted on February 22nd. The last date of filing nominations was on February 4 and the polls will be electing 12,820 posts and they include - 21 mayors, 138 chairmen for municipalities, 490 town panchayats. The polls will also be electing 1,064 councillors for municipal corporations, 3,468 councillors for municipalities, and 8,288 councillors for town panchayats.
