In a massive update pouring more excitement to the already agog-ed Vijay fans, their much expected 'Master' is all set to hit the big screens during the Pongal holidays, and as the release is just a few days away, the fans of Thalapathy are relishing to celebrate the 'Master' Pongal by watching Vijay's movie in the theaters after one and half years.
Days ahead of the release, the censor board has on Thursday awarded a U/A certificate to 'Master' and the reports close to the developments say that the makers had decided to release the movie on January 13 during the Pongal holidays. However, the official date is yet to be announced. In what has become a significant development, 'Master' would be one of the crucial Tamil movies to get released on the big screens and the release has been expected to give a potential breakthrough to the theaters as they seek the revival from the lockdown.
'Master' has been the only movie of Vijay that braced up the incessant wait and multiple speculations over the mode of release. The movie has got completed earlier this year and was supposed to be released in April. However, the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown triggered by the pandemic had closed the theaters and pushed the team and the fans to encounter an indefinite delay in releasing the movie.
Amid bracing up for the long wait, the ardent fans of Thalapathy Vijay had kept their eagerness and were yearning for the release, given for its story and crew. The makers had released the teaser during Diwali and it has got overwhelming reach, becoming the most-viewed teaser on Youtube in India. The teaser has been creating a milestone as within two hours of the movie release, the teaser has garnered 10 million views and it has been counting the numbers that had rightly captured the sense of how the fans are eagerly waiting for the movie.
The songs of the movie were released earlier in March and had got a remarkable reception from the fans across and beyond the borders. There had been heated debates and speculations that 'Master' is getting released on the OTT platforms due to the lack of the complete resumption of the theaters. However, the makers had many times asserted that they preferred the theatrical release and cleared the clouds that OTT release is not possible.
It has now been confirmed that 'Master' is coming to the theaters on Pongal and the movie has been issued with a U/A certification. Taking to Twitter on Thursday, movie producer XB Film Creators said, "And it's here! U/A certification for namma #Master. See you soon". The message and the poster has been getting rampantly spread across social media. While the teaser has become 'Master' Vijay's Diwali gift, the reports say that the movie trailer would be his New Year's gift whereas the movie would be the Pongal gift for his fans.
Master is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and while Vijay plays the lead role, Malavika Mohanan plays as a female lead and the movie has roped in Vijay Sethupathi, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, and Gauri Kishan in the important roles. Anirudh has composed the music and the movie is the first project for Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj. Sathyan Sooryan would be working on cameras and Philomin Raj has been inducted as the editor.
Following 'Master', Vijay would be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar for the movie that is temporarily titled Thalapathy 65. The movie would be produced by Sun Pictures and the rest of the crew is yet to be announced. It has been expected that the movie shooting will be commenced in the early next year and will be slated for release during next Diwali.
