It's been nearly three weeks since Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' hit the big screens and it is breaking the records that have lasted for years. It was released on June 3 and has been rocking at the box office with a humongous grossing. The blockbuster comeback of Kamal Haasan is reigning the Kollywood and has etched an impressive milestone.
According to reports, Vikram has scripted a new record at the box office in Tamil Nadu and it has become the biggest ever hit movie in the state by surpassing the feat of Baahubali: The Conclusion, which had held the record for over five years. It has been reported that the collection of Vikram in Tamil Nadu stands at Rs 155 crore, a glorious opening for the legendary actor.
For the last five years, Baahubali 2, which was released in 2017, held the record of collecting about Rs 152 crore in Tamil Nadu and now, there is the newcomer to the throne. As no major contenders at the box office currently, Vikram would be bagging more collections to its kitty in the coming weeks. Vikram has also become the highest-grossing Tamil film in Kerala with over Rs 35 crore in the gross collection.
The movie has also got a significant reception in Hindi by earning Rs 8 crore so far. Vikram has also surpassed Superstar Rajinikanth's '2.O' to become the highest-grossing Tamil film in Australia and it is the third highest-grossing Tamil film in the United States after Rajini's '2.O' and 'Kabali'. The Vikram movie team is on cloud nine for historical success.
It must be noted that the movie is also doing well in the Arab countries, Malaysia, and Singapore. To celebrate the success, Kamal Haasan has thrown a grand party in Chennai late last week and the team has also held a success meet. Vikram was made at a budget of around Rs 80 crore and overall, the movie has collected over Rs 350 crore worldwide in three weeks.
As Vikram has entered the club of Rs 300 crore, the fans are celebrating the latest milestone and while Kamal Haasan relishes the comeback, Vikram's director Lokesh Kanagaraj has recorded his four consecutive success after Maanagaram, Kaithi, and Master. Kamal Haasan is back on the big screens after four years. His last movie was Vishwaroopam 2. While Lokesh Kanagaraj has helmed the movie, it is bankrolled by Kamal Haasan under his own banner Raaj Kamal Films International.
While Kamal Haasan plays the lead role, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Arjun Das, Narain, Harish Uthaman, Kalidas Jayaram, Antony Varghese, Shivani Narayanan, and Ramesh Thilak had played important roles. Actor Suriya has won hearts through his cameo appearance and Anirudh has composed the music.
