In what has become shocking news for the ardent fans of Thalapathy Vijay, they have been pushed to brace up more delay in the screening of Vijay's next, which has been tentatively named as Thalapathy 65. Vijay is currently in the outing with 'Kolamavu Kokila' fame director Nelson Dilipkumar for the first time for his next movie which would be baked as an action thriller treat for the fans.
The outing with Nelson Dilipkumar would present Vijay with a never-seen-before character and while the fans are getting excited to watch him on the big screens after the blockbuster hit 'Master', the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic had busted their excitements as the current state of the pandemic had triggered the delay in the release of the movie. While the movie shooting was at a steady pace, the restrictions sparked by the pandemic had now paused the shooting.
Vijay had last month gone to Georgia to take part in the first schedule of shooting for the film. India was reporting the surge of the second wave of the pandemic when Vijay had returned to Chennai after completing the shooting at the European country. As the COVID-19 cases surged in Tamil Nadu and in the entire India, the Tamil Nadu government had imposed restrictions and suspended the movie shootings.
Apart from imposing restrictions, the state government has also suspended the theatres in the wake of the second wave of the pandemic. With such restrictions in place, the shooting of Thalapathy 65 has been put on hold. According to reports, the movie team had to shoot a sequence in a shopping mall post which the technicians had decided to construct a complete shopping mall kind of set on the outskirts of Chennai.
Several people were employed to erect the set to continue the shooting at a rapid pace. However, Vijay had requested the workers to stop the work and reside at their homes safely owing to the pandemic spread. While the next shooting schedule is expected to go to the floors in June, it has been reported that it may be delayed for more days. The next section of the shooting has been planned in Chennai, but owing to the restrictions, the movie team has paused the shooting without having a sign of what's next and when the shooting will be resumed for the movie.
Thalapathy 65 is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures and Anirudh will be composing the music. While Vijay will play the lead role, Pooja Hegde will be playing the female lead and there are speculations that Bollywood actor John Abraham will play antagonist against Vijay.
However, it wasn't official and through Thalapathy 65, Pooja Hegde will be returning to the Tamil industry after eight years. While the movie team has planned to release the movie on the occasion of Diwali 2021, the COVID-19 lockdown is deferring the shooting and the reports suggest that the release date of Thalapathy 65 might get postponed to Tamil Year, April 2022.
