In a major shock ahead of the assembly polls, Tamil nationalist party Naam Tamilar Katchi had braced up for the intra-party political storm after some of the party's senior leaders including Rajiv Gandhi, who was one of Seeman's commanders, had switched side and joined the party's arch-rival DMK, leaving the party and its leader Seeman with trouble over addressing the emergence of the tussle within the party.
Rajiv Gandhi was one of the key leaders of the party who had served as the youth-wing secretary of Naam Tamilar Katchi. He has also appeared in several debate shows defending Seeman's Tamil Nationalist party and its propaganda and Rajiv Gandhi had been a staunch critic of the Dravidian parties and the Central parties and had strongly pressed that Naam Tamilar Katchi would be a replacement for the decades-old Dravidian houses.
While he was leading the young fleet, his decision of quitting the party has come when Naam Tamilar Katchi has been preparing for the polls with the party had already announced the first set of candidates for the legislative elections. Rajiv Gandhi had joined the DMK in the presence of MK Stalin on Wednesday and along with Gandhi, some of the members of Naam Tamilar had also joined DMK by meeting Stalin in Anna Arivalayam in Chennai.
In a statement, DMK said, "State Youth wing secretary of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Rajiv Gandhi, State Student wing secretary of the NTK Amarnath, in charge of Advocates' wing of NTK Ramesh, in charge of Thiruvadanai assembly constituency of NTK Pondy had joined DMK in the presence of MK Stalin on Wednesday evening at Anna Arivalayam. The session was also attended by DMK leaders Udhayanidhi Stalin, NR Elango, and Senthil Kumar MP.
It's worth noting that recently, senior Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Kalyanasundaram had quitted the party and joined the ADMK, and days after Seeman had braced the shock, he has now been further shocked to know that one of his commanders Rajiv Gandhi had joined the party's rival DMK.
The political observers say that Rajiv Gandhi's sudden political drama would pour a major setback for Seeman ahead of the assembly polls. According to reports, Rajiv Gandhi may possibly be awarded one of the top posts in DMK and as Rajiv Gandi clearly knows the tactics of NTK, the DMK would make better use of him in the assembly polls to tackle Seeman and his party.
