The much-awaited audio and trailer launch of Maamannan, the political thriller starring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil, Keerthy Suresh and Vadivelu, was a grand event that witnessed the presence of many big names from the Tamil film industry.

The event, which took place at Chennai’s Nehru Indoor Stadium on Friday, saw Kamal Hassan, AR Rahman, Mari Selvaraj, Sivakarthikeyan; directors Vetrimaaran, Pa Ranjith, Mysskin, Vignesh Shivan and among others gracing the occasion. But the star of the show was none other than Kamal Haasan, who was the special guest and who delivered a speech that was full of wisdom and wit.

Kamal Haasan, who has been a guiding force and a close friend to Udhayanidhi Stalin and Mari Selvaraj, lauded their efforts and said that Maamannan was not just a film but a political manifesto. He said, “I have seen the film and it is not like any other political film. It is our politics,"

He added, "I thank Minister Udayanidhi for helping to achieve that justice. I call him minister, because I am upset that he did not make my film. I hope he will make changes in many similar situations even if he becomes a minister. The conversation on social justice needs to continue in this society. Only then will we leave behind a good leader,"

"Ilayaraja and I were among the early admirers of brother Vadivelu's talent. They wondered if he was too lean for the role in ‘Thevar Magan’. But his acting in the climax of the film, matched my performance at that moment,"

When addressing the National awardee Keerthy Suresh, he said,  "Everyone said that Keerthy Suresh is beautiful. But beauty alone is not enough. Beauty with intelligence is more beautiful. And she has that. I am carrying this event on my shoulders. The social justice speech should go on.”

Kamal Haasan also expressed his admiration for AR Rahman, who were present at the event. He said that AR Rahman was a genius who had given music to many of his films and thanked him for coming to his hometown for Maamannan.

He said, " Mari Selvaraj has given a lot of freedom to Rahman. He has created a big platform for him to experiment and blend. AR Rahman’s music has captivated three generations. They call it a baton. But AR Rahman keeps surpassing himself. He does it by being his own critic. He does it without fear, without anxiety, without arrogance,"

"The film has many scenes that evoke emotions and anger. I have seen Mari Selvaraj’s vision from ‘Pariyerum Perumal’. He portrays what is happening in reality. He also gives an equal space to the other side, which shows his fairness. The success of this film will tell us the quality of the taste of the fans of Tamil cinema,"

The event also featured some mesmerizing performances by AR Rahman and his team, who sang some of the songs from the film’s album. The film, written and directed by Mari Selvaraj and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under his banner Red Giant Movies, is set to release on June.

Maamannan is one of the most anticipated films of the year, as it marks the comeback of Vadivelu after a long gap. The film also features Fahadh Faasil in his Tamil debut as the villain. Keerthy Suresh plays a journalist who helps Udhayanidhi Stalin’s character in his political journey. The film is expected to be a hard-hitting commentary on the current political scenario in Tamil Nadu.

Maamannan is not the only political film that Kamal Haasan is associated with. The actor-turned-politician is also gearing up for the release of Indian 2, directed by Shankar, and the legendary icon also have collaboration with Pa Ranjith for his next project. Kamal Haasan also revealed that he will be working with Mani Ratnam for KH234.
