Keezhadi displays precious exhibition of priceless artefacts!

Keezhadi's artefacts, that were unearthed during the phases of excavations, now stand high in an exhibition that was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief minister Edappadi Palaniswamy in Madurai following which the ancient and precious items have been displayed and open to the public to feel and understand the experience and the archaic Tamil civilization that had rewritten and redefined the history that has been recorded.

Keezhadi, which rests in Sivaganga district in Tamil Nadu has been presented with the hectares of nectar since 2014 after the Archaeological Survey of India along with the state Archaeological department had camped their excavations in the site where about five phases of excavations had concluded in which more pages of new history have been exposed. The fourth and fifth phases had uncovered more precious discoveries that have now been displayed in an exhibition in Madurai. The Archaeological department had said that out of total 6,200 items excavated, about 70% of the items will be exhibited to the public including gold jewelry, faces, earthenware and pottery items.

The reports say that the exhibition will be open from 11 am to 7 pm everyday. The commissioner of state's Archaeological department Udhayachandran stated that the visitors of the exhibition would get to see live action and said that the items weren't displayed in category wise but the exhibition houses from iron objects to potteries. He further cited that the exhibited carries the cultural texts as mark of the evidences to Sangam literature that would bring better understanding on the excavated discoveries. He added that there will be trained members of the Archaeological department who will be stationed in the exhibition site to guide the visitors. Adding to that, the exhibition site has been installed with the virtual reality corner where the visitors can walk over the excavated sites.

Five phases of excavations in which Keezhadi uncovered the real age of Tamil Sangam era which is about 2,600 years older and further exhumed that the Tamil Sangam people had attained the literacy and art of writing and the proven possibilities of promoting the agriculture and cattle. The fifth round of excavation was called off on October 13th 2019 after the tenure of four months in which over 900 artefacts were discovered along with pots of different sizes, earthenware and carved stones.

The Central government had recently consented to camp the excavations at the other Archaeological sites of Tamil Nadu including  Adichanallur, Kodumanal and Sivagalai along with sixth phase of excavation at Keezhadi that would expected to begin by the end of January 2020. The previous rounds of excavation had presented with the precious discoveries that had indeed shown that the lives of Keezhadi would have lived with deep understanding and knowledge on technology and with sounding maturity and literacy.
