The Internet is abuzz with news of Vamsi Padipally's upcoming release Varisu in Telugu. And the controversy continues over the last few days after the Telugu Film Producers Council had earlier issued a statement regarding only live Telugu films in theatres during the festivals of Sankranti and Dussehra will be released, which left Vijay's Varisu debut in Tollywood in a perplexed state. The Telugu version of Vijay's Varisu is titled 'Vaarasudu', and in Tamil, it is already set to clash with Ajith's Thunivu.

Many filmmakers and actors spoke out in favor of the actor Vijay and urged the Telugu Film Producers Council to revise their choice to release the movie on Pongal 2023 because it will displease Vijay's fans. Now, the actor has support from director Lingusamy in a confident manner. He asserted that the movie industry is in its "golden age," and that with the rise of digital platforms, no movie should encounter controversy before or after its release.

The renowned director furthered his points by stating that "Varisu" is a movie that will fundamentally alter how people view cinema today. The Telugu Film Producers Council should reconsider the decision, he reportedly added, and no one in the state raised a fuss when "KGF 2" was released in Tamil Nadu and competed at the box office with "Beast" in January. Furthermore, it is faulty to defer the Telugu release of the movie Varisu, as this could lead to new issues when Telugu movies are released in Tamil Nadu.

The released statement from the council read, "Priority should be given to only live Telugu films in theatres during the festivals of Sankranti (Pongal) and Dussehra (Vijayadasami) in order to save the Telugu film industry"

Producers Dil Raju and Shirish are bankrolling Varisu under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations while the movie is directed by Vamshi Paidipally.  Along with Vijay and Rashmika, who play the lead roles, Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Srikanth, Sham, Yogi Babu, Sangeeta, Samyukta, Khushbu are the supporting cast of the film. Music and cinematography are handled by S Thaman and Karthik Palani respectively. KL Praveen serves as the cinematographer.
