Lathi, starring Vishal, will premiere on the 22nd of December, directed by debutant Vinod Kumar. An iconic theatre in Chennai hosted the launch of the film's trailer. When Lokesh Kanagaraj was the special guest, he inevitably got asked about Thalapathy67, and the director's reply was already ruling the internet. The official launch of Thalapathy 67' was on December 5th, and since then, it has been a social media phenomenon.

The Tamil trailer for Lathi was just released by director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and during the media briefing, Vishal spoke, "You all know what to ask. But I've already addressed that. I get both excited and jealous when I see Lokesh Kanagaraj. Like you, I'm hoping to direct actor Vijay in a story by god's grace." Now, this video is all over the internet.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Vishal could play the antagonist in the film. Vishal recently cleared the air on the rumor mill during an interview, saying, "Yes, director Lokesh Kanagaraj came and told the script but as I have a lot of commitments I couldn't do it." Thus, it has been established that Vishal is not participating in the upcoming film Thalapathy 67.

Sunaina pairs up with Vishal in Lathi. Vishal's good friends Nanda and Ramana are co-producing Lathi under the banner of Rana Productions, along with the actor's production banner Vishal's Vishal Film Factory. This film's cinematographer is Balasubramaniam, and Yuvan Shankar Raja did the musical score.

The film Lathi will be released as a Pan India release in five languages - Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu, which were all represented on the first-look poster that was released a few days ago. Actor Vishal is currently working on films like Mark Antony and Thupparivalan 2 after finishing Lathi.
