“I am one of the millions of hearts"... Suriya prays for veteran actor and Captain Vijayakanth’s recovery

The film industry and the political arena of Tamil Nadu are in a state of turmoil as one of their most beloved icons, Vijayakanth, is fighting for his life in a hospital. The actor-turned-politician, who is fondly called Captain by his fans and followers, was admitted to MIOT hospital on November 18 with severe respiratory distress and was put on ventilator support. His condition is said to be critical and he is being closely monitored by a team of doctors.

The news of his hospitalization has sent shock waves across the state and the country, as people from all walks of life are praying for his speedy recovery. Among them is the  Suriya, who has expressed his heartfelt wishes for Vijayakanth’s health. Suriya, who has worked with Vijayakanth in the blockbuster film Periyanna, took to X to share his message.

He wrote, “I am one of the millions of hearts praying for Annan Vijayakanth’s recovery. The prayers of billions of people will surely come true, make him fully cured and get well.!!”. Suriya’s post has received thousands of likes and retweets, as well as comments from his fans and well-wishers.

Many of them have thanked Suriya for his gesture and have joined him in praying for Vijayakanth. Some of them have also shared their memories of watching Periyanna, which was released in 1999 and was a huge hit at the box office. The film showcased the bond between Suriya, who played a young orphan, and Vijayakanth, who played his guardian and mentor.

Premalatha, Vijayakanth's wife, has also affirmed that Vijayakanth is in a stable condition and will be discharged soon. She addressed, "Your prayers and all the help he has done will definitely save him. I request all the cadres and party leaders who have come together not to be afraid. We will update you on when he will be back home. Before that, please don't spread any rumours." 

Vijayakanth, who is the founder and leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party, has been a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu politics for over a decade. He has contested in several elections and has served as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly from 2011 to 2016.  He has a loyal fan base and a strong political following, who are eagerly waiting for his comeback.

Vijayakanth, who is 71 years old, has been suffering from various health issues for the past few years.  As Vijayakanth continues to battle for his life, the entire state of Tamil Nadu is hoping for a miracle. His family, friends, colleagues, and admirers are praying for his recovery and are sending him their love and support.
