In what has become unanticipated development hours ahead of the official release of the movie, Suriya's much expected 'Soorarai Pottru' has met with fresh trouble as the movie was pirated and leaked on social media platforms, leaving the entire team and fans to shock and alarming the movie industry on the prevalence of the pirates on the OTT platforms. 

Soorarai Pottru, after going through the episodes of challenges, was scheduled to get released directly on Amazon Prime Video on November 12, two days ahead of Diwali. It would be one of the significant movies in Suriya's career and the first biggest release of Tamil Cinema on the OTT as it has grasped vast expectations from the fans and audiences for its crew and storyline. The movie has become Suriya's Diwali gift to the fans and the movie team was celebrating its release and keenly waiting to witness the scale of reception. 

However, their celebrations didn't last long as they endured the shocking development and a setback that the movie was pirated and the piracy website has leaked the movie hours ahead of its official release in India. According to reports, the movie was scheduled to get officially released on Amazon Prime Video on November 12. However, the OTT platform has released the movie two hours ahead of its scheduled time. 

While it was scheduled to be released at 12 AM IST on November 12, the movie was made available on the OTT platform by 10 pm on November 11. However, amid the development of early release, the movie team was further shocked to learn that the movie was out at around 9 pm on Wednesday as several Tweeple took to Twitter and shared that the movie was already out. 

The reports say that Amazon Prime had already released the movie in some of the selected countries and the movie was downloaded and made available to watch and download on an Indian piracy website by 9.30 pm on Wednesday and the entire movie was shared on social media platforms including Telegram which had pushed the team to get perplexed on how the leak was possible. 

Soorarai Pottru has been receiving a decent reception but the emergence of fresh trouble for the movie had shocked the ardent fans of actor Suriya who have been staunchly waited for the release of the movie on the OTT platform and to have a huge Diwali gift from their favorite actor. The movie was based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, a retired Army captain who founded the low-cost airline 'Air Deccan'. 

Produced by Suriya, the movie was directed by 'Irudhi Suttru' fame Sudha Kongara and the music was composed by GV Prakash Kumar. While Aparna Balamurali plays as a female lead, the movie has roped Jackie Shroff, Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Paresh Rawal in important roles. The movie had faced challenges in the release and earlier, it was scheduled to get released on October 21, 2020, but the release was deferred owing to the delay in obtaining the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian Air Force. 

The trailer was recently out and so are songs that had given more expectations from the fans to watch the movie from their home through Amazon Prime. The shocking development that the movie was leaked before the official release in India had alarmed the movie industry on releasing the movies directly on OTT platforms, which had likely come under scrutiny, in the wake of the piracy.  It must be noted that Vijay Sethupathi starred 'Ka Pae Ranasingam', which got released recently on the Zee Plex OTT platform, was also leaked by the piracy site within hours after its official release.
