Former Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has been hospitalized in Delhi. Yadav, the Chief of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the former Chief Minister of Bihar, was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the evening hours of Friday at the emergency ward after he complained of fever and drowsiness. 

The 73-year-old veteran politician had served as the Union Minister of Railways from 2004 to 2009 and his hospitalization has come amid facing legal charges after being accused of committing scams. Lalu Prasad Yadav has been convicted in several fodder scam cases and he is now out of bail. He had even appeared before a special CBI court in Patna on November 23 - Tuesday in connection with another case relating to the fodder scam. 

According to reports, Yadav had developed health discomforts and he was immediately rushed to AIIMS, Delhi. An AIIMS doctor has said that the former Union Minister has been suffering from fever and drowsiness, but his condition isn't serious. Yadav had tested negative for dengue, malaria, and typhoid and he has been kept under the doctors' close observation. ANI has quoted a source saying that the veteran politician is doing stable. 

Yadav has been battling legal cases and his health condition for over years. He had returned to Bihar last month after over three years after the Jharkhand High Court granted him bail this April. Earlier, he had undergone treatment at Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences for two years and he was later moved to AIIMS in Delhi in January this year. Earlier this week, he had addressed supporters on the occasion of the RJD's 25th foundation day. 

During his address, he had claimed that the party has the backing of farmers and the weaker sections of the society, which will help the party form the government in the state in the next assembly polls in Bihar. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to withdraw the three farm laws is a victory for the farmers and added that the arrogance and Modi have been defeated.
