Actor Vishal, who is making his debut as a director with the upcoming action thriller Thupparivaalan 2, has shared his long-time desire to direct a film with actor Vijay. Vishal, who plays a private detective named Kaniyan Poongundran in the sequel to the 2017 hit Thupparivaalan, said that he has prepared two stories for Vijay and hopes to collaborate with him soon.

Vijay told Vishal, “Nanba! Let’s travel together in this beautiful journey called Cinema”. Vijay, who is known for his blockbuster films and mass appeal, has reportedly agreed to act under Vishal’s direction and encouraged him to pursue his passion.

The teaser of Vishal's next Mark Antony directed by Adhik Ravichandran to be out today, where Vishal invited Vijay to show the preview. Speaking after the meeting, Vishal said, "Thalapathy Vijay was happy to see the teaser of Mark Antony and appreciated the team a lot. He said that he was pleased to do this for him as he considered him his dear friend." 

Producer Vinod Kumar, director, Cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam and executive producer Harikrishnan were also present. Thupparivaalan 2, which also stars Prasanna, Rahman, Munna Simon and Adithya Menon, is expected to release on 12 August 2023. The film was initially directed by Mysskin, who later quit the project due to creative differences and financial issues with Vishal. The music of the film is composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

Vishal is also busy with his upcoming project, including Mark Antony, where he plays in a periodic gangster drama. Vijay, on the other hand, is busy with Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film also features Trisha as the female lead.
