Radhakrishnan, the name of the doctor turned bureaucrat which has been active among the circle of IAS officers and in the government mechanism. He chaired and governed most of the important, powerful and crucial roles in the government of Tamil Nadu and his bureaucratic travel is continuing amidst blissful tides and heated waves with critics and compliments.

Before assuming roles in Chief secretariat, he served as district collector of Thanjavur and his tenure of service had gifted him with utmost responsibilities and accusations where in the year of 2004, the entire state of Tamil Nadu witnessed extreme fire accident in the school of Kumbakonam on July 16th that had claimed about 90 children and being the district collector, he rushed to the spot before the fire gets intensify and while he was en route to the school, he was stuck with severe traffic following which he took the roads and ran to the spot for about one kilometer. After having reported with the loss of 90 children, he ensured that no other lives would be lost by camping the precautionary measures and his on ground actions and governance had poured more responsibility and popularity.

In the same year, on December 26th, the coastal areas in the state of Tamil Nadu was introduced with Tsunami, the unheard and unseen catastrophe had devastated the coastal districts. On the verge of unprecedented destruction, the state government sent Radhakrishnan to station and to expedite the rescue operations in Nagapattinam district where he camped his operations in Akkaraipettai where from Nagapattinam to reached the village by travelling four kilometers on foot. In Akkaraipettai, with the help of the government authorities, he rescued about 2600 bodies and buried following which he had initiated efficient rehabilitation centers for the affected and displaced people and his rescue and rehabilitating measures were covered live by BBC that had brought more attention for Radhakrishnan at the international stage where the United Nations had requested former US President Bill Clinton to meet Radhakrishnan.

The countries like United States and Sri Lanka had invited him to understand the possible ways to counter and to tackle the massive catastrophe like Tsunami and for his exemplary rescue operations, his ability and decision making skills had presented him to head United Nations Disaster Relief Organization. Again in the year of 2012, he resumed his duties under government of Tamil Nadu where the state government had named him as health secretary and in the year of 2015, when Chennai city and Cuddalore districts had devastated with severe floods, he played a strong and vital part in rescue and relief operations in both places and along with his contribution in disaster relief mechanisms, he majorly contributed to create effective parameters in medical and health care facilities with the motive of protecting the people from deadliest diseases.

On the other hand, his name also met with accusations and critics where in 2016, the then Chief minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa was admitted at Apollo hospitals with the fever, as mentioned by the hospital but being the health secretary of the state, he refused to disclose the medical treatments of the Chief minister. After being hospitalized for about 75 days, Jayalalithaa was expired in the month of December 2016 with having no clear records and clear cause for her death that has still been probed by special commission set up the current state government. The then Chief Secretary Girija Vaidhyanadhan had asserted that Radhakrishnan failed to table clear report on the death. He has been accused and questioned on the possibilities of organ transplantation that was done to Sasikala's husband Natarajan in Chennai hospital and arranging army chopper to transport the brother of Deputy Chief minister O Pannerselvam who was at medical emergency.

During heated questions that were thrown on him regarding Jayalalithaa's death, he backed Sasikala family and Apollo hospitals and for the most recent case of Sujith, who died after trapped under bore well, Radhakrishnan, currently holds office of revenue commissioner, was blamed that he failed to respond quickly to rescue the child. There were words of unrest between Radhakrishnan and the state health minister on his presence to rescue the child and the government seemed to spear him for the loss of the child. While we reached Radhakrishnan to understand his response, he cited that the Kumbakonam fire incident, Tsunami and bore well incident were disasters and stated that these accusations were due to not having clear understanding and awareness on what had happened. He claimed that the truth will answer the critics and accusations that were levied against him.
