Death of a Dalit woman in Tamil Nadu: The boyfriend has been detained!

The police department of Kanchipuram district, Tamil Nadu has detained a 24-year-old man on Friday with the connection to the death of a 20-year-old Dalit woman, who was found dead in a private garden in the district and the incident has been added in a line which had revealed the failing parameters on the awareness and the lack of women's safety in the country as a veterinary doctor of Hyderabad was killed and charred to death on Thursday that had spurred the anger and uncertainty among the women on their safety.

It has been reported that the detained man was identified as Rajesh who is from a predominant caste group in the district and he was in a relationship with the deceased Dalit woman. The reports say that after being handcuffed, the police department has been investigating the case and in the process of remanding the accused under their custody.

The woman, a native of Aandi Siruvallur village near Walajabad, was reported to her work on November 21st and she didn't turn back to the home following which her family members had filed a complaint at the Kanchipuram Taluk police station on November 23rd and while the police have been investigating her whereabouts, she was found dead at a private garden close to her house on last Wednesday with burns on her body.

The initial stage of investigations had exposed that the woman was allegedly in a relationship with Rajesh, who told the father of the woman on November 21st that he would bring her back to the home but she wasn't returned to the home after which the family had reached out the police station. In his complaint, the woman's father had stated that the family was against her relationship with Rajesh, who belong to the dominant caste group and he further noted that Rajesh denied his involvement and blamed the woman for her death and moments later, he reportedly claimed that he had killed the woman.

The reports have cited that based on the complaint, the police have booked an FIR under the grounds of murder and SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. The officials had noted that the woman's body was sent to perform autopsy based on which, it can be known whether she was raped or assaulted by the accused.
