The state of Tamil Nadu and most of the states across the nation have been preparing to celebrate the festival of lights 'Diwali' in its own and unique style as the date nears for rocking the grounds with crackers and on the other side of the shore, the social medias and the advertisements from the top companies have been oiling the fire of crackers in the name of campaigning to combat the pollution where some of the companies like SpiceJet and Indigo airlines had erected the banner recently in Madurai airport that had asked the passengers to celebrate green Diwali without the crackers - The usual style of message which will only rise during Diwali season.
For the past few years, the campaign to ban the crackers has been mounting high across the country and with the view of justifying the voices, there were multiple accusations levied on cracker manufacturing companies, most of them resides in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, as they employ more child and bonded laborers in producing the life risky crackers. The campaigners who voiced against of crackers had carpeted the brand new style of celebrating 'Green Diwali' by urging the people not to buy crackers that were allegedly produced by child laborers and following the series of such claims, the companies in Sivakasi had fought the voices legally by citing that they don't employ child laborers after which the voices of the campaign were lowered down.
Further to which, the Supreme court had seen tabling the petition to prohibit the manufacturing of crackers by claiming that it increases unprecedented air pollution and after hearing the petition, the apex court didn't ban the crackers but imposed time restrictions on firing as the manufacturing units provides thousands of employment opportunities which has direct involvement of about 8 lakh people with having business of about 3000 crores.
Through its banners, SpiceJet and Indigo airlines had cooked itself with the controversies by claiming to be voicing against the crackers in Madurai airport. Commenting about such advertisements of 'Green Diwali' by demeaning the work of thousands of employees, one of the leading brand of cracker manufacturers had took its social media handles to pay befitting reply to the aviation companies where it has questioned the airline companies on whether they have any airplanes in their fleet which won't pollute the air and further blamed such banners as their promotion by demoting the work of the cracker manufacturers. It further urged the airline companies to trash the planes before campaigning and advising the people on preventing pollution.
Their heated arguments on social medias had erupted multiple views where some of the posts had claimed that there is no requirement among the people to buy crackers as it plays tiny role in the celebrations and further accused the cracker manufacturing companies for attacking the fleet of aviation as aviation has been becoming one of the important and strong corridors of transport while rebutting such statements, the cracker manufacturers had said that the crackers which cause least amount of pollution, can't be compared with the airlines which cause massive pollution everyday.
The banners were removed after the Lok Sabha MP of Virudhunagar had taken the issue to the attention of the airport authorities while SpiceJet had stated that they play no role in placing such banners and blamed the operators of the airport for erecting such advertisements without the consent of airport authorities.
