Amid overwhelming reception and celebration by the fans for Arabic Kuthu, the first single from Vijay's upcoming movie 'Beast', a Hindutva outfit in Tamil Nadu, Indu Makkal Katchi has drawn an outrage through its awful perspective of the song, which had shown that after going rounds with its religious propaganda, the outfit led by Arjun Sampath has found a talking point of religion through a song that is enjoyed by all. Fans are slamming the outfit for its controversial credit.
Taking to Twitter, the outfit has claimed, "We have to choose our battles wisely." While fans were celebrating and lipsyncing the song, Indu Makkal Katchi found its religious propaganda in a chain worn by Vijay in the song and it was a chain with an anchor pendant and it was totally visible without a second thought. However, the Hindu outfit has given a new paint for the anchor pendant. For them, it looks like a Cross. Yes, the religious symbol of Christianity.
The outfit took courage to post it by circling the pendant with the claim to choose battles wisely and it went on to propagate the actor's religion and by terming the pendant as a Cross, the outfit has advocated that everyone has freedom of religion in India. Taking to Twitter, Indu Makkal Katchi wrote, "Joseph Vijay wearing Cross is a welcome sign, he is unapologetically and boldly displaying his religious identity- what's wrong in it. IMK welcomes this, everyone has freedom of religion in India. Unnecessary propaganda must be avoided."
The outfit campaigns to avoid unnecessary propaganda but, how it is going to justify considering anchor pendant as a Cross as the necessary propaganda? As soon as the outfit has shared the post on social media, it has drawn major flak from the fans of Tamil cinema and they have been slaying Indu Makkal Katchi for what they called filthy politics. On the other hand, trolls and memes were rife over the outfit's tweet of its religious propaganda over the actor's attire.
The first single Arabic Kuthu was released on February 14, on the occasion of Valentine's Day and the outfit's tweet has come two days after the release. Ever since the song was released, it has been going rampant across and beyond the borders. Beast is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under his own banner Sun Pictures, Beast is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. While Vijay plays the lead role, Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu, Shine Tom Chacko, Jonh Vijay, VTV Ganesh, Aparna Das, and Sathish Krishnan play important roles. Beast has been slated to release in the theatres on 14th April 2022.
