In a major development, Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' has possibly been preparing for another significant takeoff to reach the big screens, days after marking a successful journey in the OTT release. Soorarai Pottru was released on November 12 directly through Amazon Prime Video, making it as the first big release of Tamil cinema that premiered directly on the streaming platform. 

Days after its release, the movie is expected to hit the big screens in some of the South Indian states. Soorarai Pottru had released on Amazon Prime when the theaters were under indefinite closures in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown. Amid the strong objections from the theater owners in Tamil Nadu over the OTT release, the movie has got successfully landed directly in the hands of the fans and audiences as what has become Suriya's Diwali gift to the fans. 

Soorarai Pottru has become one of the significant movies in Suriya's career and the actor was immensely commended for his audacity in releasing the movie through OTT, his dedication towards the movie, and his splendid acting, which precisely lived to the role of the movie. The release was strongly expected by the fans, and the movie has surfaced with a successful reception, incessant feedbacks filled with relishing remarks, and positive critics. 

Soorarai Pottru is expected to become one of the most-watched movies on Amazon Prime as the viewers had gone beyond millions and counting. To reach Suriya's fans in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the movie was also released in Telugu. As the states have resumed the theaters and cinema halls recently, it has been expected that the movie will be released in theaters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. 

According to reports close to the developments, Tamil Nadu has recently permitted the resumption of the theaters including the single screens and multiplexes with the standard operating procedures. However, the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had permitted the resumption of only the multiplexes and the theater owners have been ending up to witness a limited number of audience than they expected due to the lack of fullest resumption of the theaters. 

The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments had permitted to resume the single screen theaters from December 11 and in order to have a significant breakthrough in the resumption, the theater owners in both the states are strongly mulling to release 'Soorari Pottru' on the big screens. As Amazon Prime had bought the license of the movie, the reports say that the theater owners have been working to begin talks with Amazon to get the movie exclusively and to screen it in the theaters in their bid to cover more audience. 

If the movie gets released in the theaters, it would be a big treat and surprise for Suriya fans in both the states who would enjoy relishing the movie by watching it on the big screen since its release. Soorarai Pottru is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and directed by 'Irudhi Suttru' fame Sudha Kongara. While Suriya had played the lead role, Aparna Balamurali has played the female lead. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music and Oorvashi, Mohan Babu, Paresh Rawal, Karunas, and Kaali Venkat had played important roles.
