Although BJP observes alliance with the Tamil Nadu ruling ADMK party before the cameras, the state BJP wing has seemingly been rivaling against the ruling party behind the screens as it has joined the opposition parties in voicing against EPS on his governance in providing the relief measures and against combating the virus. 

Our sources say that the state BJP unit has been on the ground to provide relief measures and assistance without expecting the Tamil Nadu government. The state BJP has been functioning under its president Murugan and his faction has been examining whether the reliefs and assistance from the Central government reach the people.

The sources stated that senior BJP leader Muralidhar Rao had convened a video-conferencing meet with Murugan and senior state leaders on April 12th during which the national leader advised the state unit to inspect whether the relief from the Central government reaches the people and asked the unit to disclose the reports to Delhi. Murugan had said that the state unit has been providing relief materials without expecting the ADMK government as per the direction of Prime Minister Modi.

Recently, Edappadi Palaniswami government has ordered the voluntary organizations and NGOs not to provide relief materials directly to the people. Although the government has claimed that its statement was wrongly understood, the ADMK rival parties DMK, MDMK, and its allied parties BJP, and PMK have jointly condemned the government's move. 

While DMK went to court, the state BJP unit and PMK have taken the issue to the attention of the Prime Minister. Adding to that, the intelligence had also noted the scams and corruption of the ADMK government while providing the relief measures and reported it to the Prime Minister's office.

Following which, Prime Minister Modi dialed directly to Edappadi Palaniswami and advised him not to press politics in the relief measures. After the opposition went to the court, the ADMK government had issued a clarification and maintained that the NGOs can provide food, rations, and relief materials to the needy people through the government machinery to ensure that the social distancing measure has been practiced.
