Days after the shocking death of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, a threat letter has been issued to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan, which has warranted the need to strengthen the security for the Khans. The Maharashtra police have been questioning a jailed gangster in this regard and the officials have brought the residence of the actor in Mumbai under the scanner.
According to reports, the letter was found outside Salman Khan's residence. To be precise, Salman's father Salim Khan has found the letter on a bench where he sits daily after jogging. According to the police, the letter has said that Salman Khan and Salim Khan will be killed by Sidhu Moose Wala, who was shot dead in Punjab last month, which sparked public outcry across the nation.
The threat letter to Salman Khan has two initials- G.B and L.B. While GB could mean Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, who claimed responsibility for the murder of Moosewala, L.B could mean Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in a special cell in Mumbai. The police are questioning him and it is not yet known whether the duo is behind the letter or someone used their names.
Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey said, "We are taking the threat seriously and have taken necessary steps. On the actor's security, we cannot make public comments." It has been reported that Salman Khan's security has been enhanced following the recovery of the threat letter. The police are also sifting the CCTV footage outside his residence.
It must be noted that Lawrence Bishnoi had ployed an attack on Salman Khan during the shooting of his movie 'Ready'. However, the attack failed due to an issue over weapons. The Maharashtra police have filed an FIR under section 506-II (Criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
ANI has reported, "Actor Salman Khan & his father Salim Khan received a threat letter, today. Bandra police have filed an FIR against an unknown person & further probe is underway." Maharashtra Home Department has strengthened actor Salman Khan's security after a threat letter was sent to him. Salman Khan has arrived in India on Sunday after attending the IIFA Awards 2022.
