Finding the right time to come to the front of the political turmoil, ADMK's expelled General Secretary VK Sasikala has thrown more weight behind what remains to be an esoteric political career, claiming that she is the right choice to lead the party.

Quoting her term of being the witness of the first revolt in the ADMK in 1987, Sasikala has affirmed that she knows how to fix the current rift of the party that has been getting widened in the wake of the leadership tussle between Edappadi Palaniswami (EPS) and O Panneerselvam (OPS). While both the leaders have been locking horns over who needs to head the party, VK Sasikala has turned heads by asserting that her only agenda is to unite the ADMK.

In the midst of the political unrest in ADMK that has heavily damaged the legacy of its former leaders MGR and J Jayalalithaa, the latter's former aide VK Sasikala is now making headlines as she is in the race to win the other two rivals. On Tuesday - July 12, Sasikala was addressing an event in Thanjavur where her brother VK Divakaran has merged his political outfit with Sasikala. It has become Sasikala's first public address after the episodes of ruckus in the ADMK - from riots between the cadres, the sealing up event of ADMK's office, to the drama between EPS and OPS, expelling each other from the party. 

While speaking in Thanjavur, Sasikala said that her only agenda is to unite the ADMK factions and to commence her work to bring back the ADMK rule in the state. Taking the participants back to the 1987 revolt in the party, she cited that her ambition is to work for ADMK. She said when the party had split into two after the demise of MGR in 1987, there were predictions that there was no future for ADMK and its rival DMK dreamt that there would be no rival to them in the state. 

Sasikala said, "Karunanidhi's (DMK's late president) dream was busted when the two factions of ADMK had merged. I was witness to that entire event and through that, I have developed the skill and knowledge about how to unite different factions and bring them back as one party. Now, the time has come and I will start working for the unity in the party and that's my life's ambition." She further said that the general council meeting that was held in 2016 after the demise of Jayalalithaa was real. 

It was in this general council meeting that Sasikala was appointed as the ADMK's General Secretary. "That general council meeting was convened strictly by following the bylaws of the party with the blessings of all cadres", she added. By asserting that there will be good news for all the real ADMK cadres soon, VK Sasikala said that the present activities in the ADMK are appearing to be a mockery and they are invalid. 

While speaking to the reporters in Pudukottai on Tuesday, Sasikala reiterated her stand and said that the post of interim General Secretary created for EPS is invalid. She said she should be made the leader of the party and called the ADMK cadres to give a befitting response to EPS for becoming the interim General Secretary by defying the party rules. She claimed that EPS has no authority to expel OPS from the party when the former's post is invalid. 

She further said that the general council meeting that was convened by EPS on Monday- July 11 was also invalid as it was convened arbitrarily by people who have selfish motives. "The wish of the party cadres is that I must become the General Secretary and one can become the General Secretary if they were chosen by the cadre", she contended. Sasikala further said that the ADMK cadres and the Tamil Nadu people are pained to witness the vandalism of the party office and EPS must answer about this grim event to the party cadres in the coming days.
