Popular Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan, who is also the Chief of Jana Sena Party, has on Tuesday penned a surprise and touching letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in which he praised the latter for his governance in the state. The message from Pawan Kalyan has come four months after MK Stalin became the Chief Minister and in his letter, the Tollywood actor has expressed his congratulations to Stalin for his administration in the state.
In his letter that he shared on Twitter in Telugu and Tamil, Pawan Kalyan said, "Be it any party, it should do politics for coming to power. But, a party should not exercise politics after coming to power. You (Stalin) are proving this not only through your words but also through your works. Your governance and the way your government is performing is inspirational not only to your state but for all the states and political parties. My heartfelt congratulations to you."
The reports say that this has been the first time that MK Stalin has received an apparent praising message from an actor since coming to power and the DMK leaders and cadres have been thanking Pawan Kalyan for his message and sharing his letter on social media. Pawan Kalyan is one of the popular Indian actors who turned into a politician. He launched the Jana Sena Party in 2014 in Hyderabad and garnered support from his strong fan base across and beyond Tollywood.
His party had supported BJP and TDP in the 2014 general and assembly polls. Pawan Kalyan had addressed the public in the election campaigns along with Narendra Modi and Chandrababu Naidu. He posed himself as a staunch critic of the Congress party and after the BJP's victory in the 2014 polls, Pawan Kalyan was invited to Parliament Central Hall to attend the NDA meeting and he also had attended the swearing-in ceremony of the then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
In May 2018, his party has announced that it would contest all 175 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh during the 2019 assembly polls. Jana Sena Party has formed an alliance with the Communist parties and Bahujan Samaj Party in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Pawan Kalyan had contested two seats in the 2019 assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh - Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram. However, he had failed to win not even a single seat and the JSP has won only one seat in the polls after its candidate Rapaka Vara Prasada Rao was elected from Razole Assembly Constituency.
JSP has got a 7% vote share in Andhra Pradesh and back in Tamil Nadu, DMK President MK Stalin had become the Chief Minister for the first time after the DMK alliance had ousted the ADMK regime from power in the 2021 assembly polls. The DMK alliance had secured 159 seats while the ADMK coalition had won 75 seats. While the DMK formed the government under MK Stalin, ADMK managed to occupy the assembly as the Opposition party headed by Edappadi Palaniswami.
