'A woman of courage': The world of Ponniyin Selvan unveils the poster of Princess Kundhavai!

The makers are introducing a 'Ponniyin Selvan' character with a new poster every day as promotional work. On July 7, Lyca Productions, which bankrolls the magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan -1', revealed the most awaited look of Kundhavai, the Princess of Chola.

Lyca Productions took to Twitter and wrote, "In a world of men, a woman of courage. Presenting Princess Kundavai! #PS1 releasing in theatres on 30th September in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada!" Princess Kundavai will be played by Trisha and the role is the daughter of Sundara Chola (featured by Prakash Raj), sister of Arul Mozhi Varman aka Raja Raja Chola (featured by Jayam Ravi), and pair to Vandhiyathevan (plays by Karthi) as per origin novel by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.

She is a brave, knowledgeable princess. She is also titled 'Ilayapiratti Kundavai Nachiyaar' and Vanavan Madhadevi. She was a mentor to Rajaraja Chola. Actress Trisha was picked as Kundavai, after Amala Paul and Keerthy Suresh opted out. Another glad tiding to the fans is that sources say, the movie team has planned a grand teaser launch event in Chennai on July 8 on Friday, and the film's actors will dress up as the characters they play in the movie for the function. However, there is no official confirmation in this regard yet. 

Ponniyin Selvan is based on the novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy under the same name and the fans are just two months ahead to relish this humongous project that took years to materialize. As the motion poster has been released, it has been reported that the teaser of the movie would get released by this month. The epic historical story has roped in legends and the movie will be getting released in five languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. 

While Mani Ratnam has helmed the project, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar, Nassar, and Balaji Sakthivel will play important roles. Interestingly, AR Rahman composed the music while Kabilan and Venba Geethayan penned the lyrics for the songs and Jayamohan has written the dialogues. The shooting of the film has been completed and the final stages are underway after several changes.
