Willing to return to Tamil Nadu? You can register in this TN Govt website!

With the view rescuing the Tamil people who are stranded in foreign countries amid the Coronavirus lockdown, the Tamil Nadu state government has launched an exclusive website, as a channel of communicating the government, for the people who are willing to fly back to their home state.

According to the state government, stranded people, who are interested to return to Tamil Nadu after the resumption of civil aviation services, can register their details in nonresidenttamil.org website through which the government can reach them. The registration is only to ascertain the details of 'Non-Resident' Tamils who are currently under lockdown in different countries due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The website states that the registration would let the government make adequate quarantine arrangements to the people who returned from overseas. The government's drive of rescuing the Tamil people has come days after the Central government has decided to install evacuation mechanisms of bringing Indians who are stranded abroad back home.

According to the reports, the center is planning to deploy the air and maritime fleets including naval ships, military, and commercial aircraft to rescue thousands of Indians who are stranded in the Gulf and other countries. The Center has already reached out to several states instructing them to install necessary arrangements for the Indians when they have been brought back home.

The massive and unprecedented evacuation operation would begin after the current spell of the lockdown ends. The Civil Aviation Ministry has stated that it has been preparing to arrange nearly 650 commercial plans including freighters to the evacuation drive and the Indian Navy and Air Force have been instructed to station the fleet for rescuing the stranded people.

The government has been prioritizing to evacuate the Indians stranded in the Arab nations after which the government would proceed for rescuing people living in Europe and other countries. The Gulf countries are housing eight million Indians and they have been living under anxiety in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak and the Indian Missions abroad have been advised to identify the people who wish to return home. The website launched by the Tamil Nadu government would function under the Commissionerate of Rehabilitation and Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils.
