Former Tamil Nadu BJP leader Gayathri Raghuram has turned out to be a staunch critic against BJP state president Annamalai. From slamming Annamalai for his contentious leadership to accusing him of disrespecting women in the party, Gayathri has thrown bombshells when she quit from the party earlier this month. Now, days after quitting from the party, she has tossed a big challenge to Annamalai to contest in the by-election and she would contest against him.
Recently, Congress MLA of Erode East constituency in Tamil Nadu, Thirumahan Everaa has passed away at the age of 46 due to heart attack. In the wake of his shocking demise, the Erode East constituency will soon be going for the by-election and the political game has already begun between the parties, particularly in the opposition ADMK in finalizing about who would contest in the by-election. Being in the alliance of the ruling DMK party, the Congress party is also bidding to run again to secure the seat and to retain its strength in the assembly.
While the Election Commission is yet to announce the notification for the Erode East by-election, former Tamil Nadu BJP leader Gayathri Raghuram has challenged Annamalai whether he would contest in the polls and said that she will run against him in the by-election. Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Gayathri wrote, "I am challenging Annamalai to contest in the Erode by-election. I am also challenging you that I will contest against you. Let your drama and bogus publicity come out in Delhi. Will you accept my challenge?."
"If I lose, you can become Chief Minister in five minutes and change the rule. I am a daughter of Tamil Nadu, but you are a son of Tamilagam. Let's see who wins, Tamil Nadu or Tamilagam", Gayathri added. Gayathri Raghuram has also been slamming Annamalai for honeytrapping the BJP leaders. In another tweet on Sunday, she referred to Annamalai's interview and wrote, "This interview just revealed Annamalie’s double standards and someone who cannot be relied on. And also He is only here for self growth not for party’s growth."
Earlier, Annamalai had suspended Gayathri Raghuram from the party for six months after she criticized Annamalai for not taking action against Suriya Siva, who made abusive and threatening remarks against a BJP woman leader. Six weeks after her suspension, Gayathri earlier this month announced that she is quitting the party by making a flabbergasting accusation against Annamalai. Gayathri said that women are not safe under Annamalai's leadership and neither the women are respected. Her statement has come when women leaders are condemning the events happening under Annamalai's watch.
Announcing about quitting the party, Gayathri wrote, "I have taken the decision with heavy heart to resign from TN BJP for not giving opportunity for an enquiry, equal rights & respect for women. Under Annamalai leadership women are not safe. I feel better to be trolled as an outsider." Thanking Annamalai for pushing her to take this decision, Gayathri said, "Today I took this hasty decision & credit goes to Annamalai. Further I want to care less about Annamalai. He is Cheap tactic liar and adharmic leader. Thanking all the karyakartas whom I worked with for 8 years whom I shared great love & respect with. It was a great journey."
"Hurting others is not Hindu dharma. I cannot continue under Annamalai leadership, cannot expect social justice. Women stay safe, don't trust that someone will save you. No one is going to come. You are on your own. Believe yourself. Never stay where you are not respected. I’m ready to raise a police complaint To surrender all videos and audio’s. And to further investigate Annamalai. Sick person. And on War room which is troubling me", Gayathri added.
The war room within the Tamil Nadu BJP is as viral as Annamalai and Annamalai has been accused of tasking his loyalists in the party to work for powering his leadership through the war room. Annamalai's war room is said to be packed by BJP functionaries who are actively working to promote Annamalai and there were several allegations against Annamalai that he is investing more funds from the party to promote him and working on to sideline senior leaders.
After announcing her decision to quit the party, Gayathri Raghuram put another tweet in which she wrote, "I strongly believe Hindu Dharma in my heart and conscience. I don’t need to search for it in an political party, I rather go to temple in search of God and Dharma. God is everywhere. God is with me. "Justice delayed is justice denied".
