The shocking report from the educational grounds of the state of Tamilnadu had revealed the drastic decrease in the admissions and in the strengths of the students in the government schools across various districts which had pictured the uncertainty and unworthiness in the state's educational system which had watered the growth of private schools, where the backward families have been pushed to admit their children despite of the expenses.
The report had sounded alarmingly over the decline of the equal educational platform in the state which shows that the state accounted for most number of primary and middle schools where it had seen 25 percent increase in the number of such schools which have single digit strengths of the students while compared to last year. The 2019-2020 data shows that 1,531 schools had less than 10 students, while 1,238 schools have accounted with single digit admissions last year.
The light and vision of the government schools in Tamilnadu has been dimming and dramatically losing its control towards giving equal and proper education despite of proper canvassing attempts that were made by the teachers and government authorities to increase the admissions. The reports added that their efforts are not helping their hands to invite the students to get admitted in the government schools as around 70% of the schools haven't been able to improve or increase their strengths with having various reasons. It further stated that the state educational department seems to be in the sleeping mode as the department hadn't attempted to undertake the studies and reviews over the decrease in the student admissions.
The reports shown that there are fifty schools in the state with having no students, due to which, these were been converted to libraries.
The government school teachers and authorities, who are on ground of witnessing the schools with no students and walls with no noise, had accused the school educational department on green signalling the start and establishment of private schools in the radius surrounded by the government schools, which was one of the main reasons to have the disturbing figures and adding to that, the private schools are keenly targeting every children of the family to web them to their schools by offering fee waivers where some of the schools had offered waiver on the bus fees for the second child in the family.
Its been in reality that even though the government school children perform similar to the one in private - some far better than the private school, many parents are not coming forward to admit their children in government schools due to the existence of social stigma about the government schools that revolves the heads and society when opting for school education. Some of the teachers have cited migration as one of the important issues where the workers, who live in the lifestyle of migrating the works for better employment opportunities will call off their children from the local government schools while moving to the new place.
While having the disturbing episodes of developments, the Federation of Educational Development had demanded the school education department to draw the line of limit in the areas of establishing the schools as nowadays the state had seen the massive rise of the private schools which is been located roughly for every ten kilometers and it urged the state government to appoint at least one teacher per class in order to gain and retain the confidence of parents and students. Adding to these reasons, the parents have been tied up in the hands of prestige, where it has been one of the reason to opt private schools than the government schools by keeping aside the fees and expenses.
Districts like Virudhunagar, Dindigul, Karur, Krishnagiri , Madurai, Namakkal and Sivagangai have accounted to have three schools each with no students enrolled while Nilgiris, Dharmapuri , Vellore and Thiruvannamalai have been hosting four schools each with zero students and the overall number of the schools in the state with zero students has been increased to 50 in this year against of 33 in last year.
