In another setback for the Tamil Nadu Opposition party ADMK, the party's IT wing state secretary K Swaminathan has resigned on Wednesday. Popularly known as Aspire Swaminathan, he was leading one of the crucial departments of the party and he quitted from the party's post and from the primary membership. The ADMK has lost another feather from its cap amid firing senior leaders who spoke with expelled leader VK Sasikala.
Taking to Twitter after resigning from the party, Swaminathan had alleged the value for professionalism has been eroded in the party, and the party drives through the lack of vision and absence of direction. Revealing his reason why he quitted from the party, he wrote, "There is NO value for SKILL or PROFESSIONALISM anymore at AIADMK."
"Even worse, is the Lack of Vision & absence of Direction. Having informed the leadership last week to relieve me from the party post, I, have NOW submitted my resignation even from the primary membership of AIADMK", he added. According to reports, Swaminathan was serving as the Zone Secretary in the IT wing of the party at the time of resignation.
There has been no response yet from the ADMK leadership concerning his resignation. Speaking to a news agency, Swaminathan said that he resigned from the ADMK because the party had ignored the inputs and suggestions given by him and the IT wing. He further asserted that he has no plan currently to join any other party.
He said that the party leadership had given him the importance earlier as the founding secretary of the ADMK IT wing and apart from strategizing the party, he also had worked to build the party's governance. He further noted that the party could have won the recently-held assembly polls if his analysis was taken. But the leadership had ignored them the party didn't see value in the IT wing.
The then party supremo J Jayalalithaa had created a new IT wing for the party in 2014. She had appointed Swaminathan as the IT wing secretary and two years later, in March 2016, Swaminathan was fired from his position and was replaced by G Ramachandran. Businessman by profession, Swaminathan also runs IT-related companies in Tamil Nadu. Responding to his tweet, several ADMK supporters had slammed Swaminathan by calling him as a BJP supporter and asking him to join the saffron party.
