Days ahead of the release of his much-awaited movie 'Jai Bhim', actor Suriya has shared a touching story in which he revealed how the title was won. Jai Bhim is often referred to as a greeting and slogan used by the followers of BR Ambedkar, who was the father of the Indian Constitution. Suriya had gone for an outing with director Tha.Se. Gnanavel for what has been called a movie that displays the real fight for justice. As the movie is nearing its release, Suriya has now opened up on the title and the story behind it.
Suriya has commended and expressed his gratitude to a popular Tamil director for providing the name 'Jai Bhim'. Suriya, as part of the promotions for the film, Suriya had appeared in an Instagram live and shared his experiences during the movie-making. It was during this social media live that Suriya had revealed that director Pa. Ranjith was the man behind the title 'Jai Bhim'.
Suriya said, "We decided to name the film 'Jai Bhim'. But, we came to know that the title was owned by director Pa. Ranjith. We asked him, Can we keep the Jai Bhim title?". Suriya added that Ranjith had informed the team that Jai Bhim is a word common to all. "He (Ranjith) said to take it (title) immediately without any hesitation. I thanked him", Suriya added. He further said, "Jai Bhim is a very special film for me. We have made a film about a real incident that happened in 1995."
Jai Bhim has been slated for a release on November 2, two days ahead of Diwali, and it will be premiered directly on the Amazon Prime Video. Jai Bhim will be the first movie for Suriya in which he will be playing the role of a lawyer. The trailer of the movie was released on October 22 and it had promised a real and potent battle of Suriya against injustice faced by a tribal woman. The trailer has given an electrifying experience and Suriya's strong projection as a saviour of justice.
Jai Bhim also revolves around police brutality and captioning the trailer, Amazon Prime wrote, "There's no fear when Suriya is here. The fight against inequality is now closer than you think (sic) Trailer out now." Pouring more reputation to his acting career, Suriya displays his wrath over the caste and audacity to fight it. Reacting to it, Suriya said, " "I strongly believe true stories can bring true changes in the society...#JaiBhim will be an intense one and is close to my heart."
Jai Bhim, which is a legal drama film, is bankrolled by Suriya and Jyothika under their own banner 2D Entertainment and it is directed by TJ Gnanavel. While Suriya acts in a lead role, Prakash Raj, Rajisha Vijayan, Bava Chelladurai, and Lijomol Jose have been acting in important roles. The story is based on a real-life incident that happened in 1995 during which former High Court judge Justice Chandru fights for a couple from a tribal community when he was an advocate. Jai Bhim will also stream in Telugu and it will also be dubbed and premiered in Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. While Sean Roldan has composed the music for the movie, SR Kathir and Philomin Raj had done cinematography and editing respectively.
