With the hat-trick defeat, CSK has been pushed to the state that it needs overwhelming hope and a concrete revival plan to cement and fix the damages and scatters in the team to stay in the series, as in the last three matches, the team that was at the pinnacle, had disappointed the fans over the selection, gameplans, and strategies as with the plunging batting and bowling line-ups, the fans are losing the hope that the team would make up to the playoffs.
When the CSK is under pressure, the onus of reviving the team has completely shouldered on MS Dhoni, and with just a day away for the next match against Kings XI Punjab, Dhoni's army is ought to quickly frame up to defeat Rahul's fleet to show the sign of the revival.
The CSK's never-wished feat of three consecutive defeats has come after it had conceded a loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Though CSK had an easy target on board, the sequel of back to back dismissals from the top-order batsmen had left the CSK to lose the match by seven runs.
When Dhoni was on the crease along with Ravindra Jadeja, there was a little hope for a victory. However, Dhoni has got exhausted, and though he had the tenacity to chase the target till the last minute, it hasn't helped the team, which ended up accepting the defeat for the third straight time in the match. CSK is currently in the last place in the points table. With the unprecedented defeats, Dhoni has been surfaced with series questions.
Addressing after the game, Dhoni said, "I was not able to middle a lot of deliveries and was trying to hit it too hard. When the wicket is slightly at the slower side, it is better to time it. Looking at the outfield, it was subconsciously coming to us to hit the ball hard. Tried to get as much as time as possible. It is quite dry out here. So, the throat gets dry and you start to cough. Long time back once we lost three in a row".
Dhoni stated that "We need to get a lot of things right. It is professionalism. We need to take our catches not bowl no-balls. Those are the controllables and maybe we are getting too relaxed. We have been a bit too relaxed at times. After the 16th over, we had two good overs but overall we could have been slightly better".
By admitting that his team-mates are a bit too relaxed at times, MS Dhoni asserted that the Chennai Super Kings would stage a comeback into the tournament. The legendary captain said that it is very important to be at the best and there are plenty of positives in this game, but the team will try to come back strong. On the other hand, though some had criticized Dhoni's captaincy, many had extended their support and solidarity to the legendary captain with the hashtag of #DhoniForever.
