Well-known Tamil television actor Selvarathinam was hacked to death in Chennai. He was 41 and had appeared in the TV serials. He came to India as a refugee from Sri Lanka and he was staying with his friend in Chennai.
In what has become a shocking incident, the reports say that the crime took place in the wee hours of Sunday. Selvarathinam was known for playing as an antagonist in the serial 'Thenmozhi BA' that has been getting telecasted on Vijay TV. He was staying with his friend Mani, who was the assistant director of the serial. He received a phone call following which he left the room without informing his friend.
However, he was unreachable, and later, Mani received a phone call informing that Selvarathinam was hacked to death. Following the shocking information, Mani has informed the police about the incident and the police rushed to the spot. Selvarathinam's body was recovered and it was sent to the Royapettah Government Hospital for autopsy.
The police had launched a probe into the death and the motive behind the murder. They have been tracing the culprits through the CCTV footage. The initial investigations revealed that the CCTV cameras in the spot where Selvarathinam was murdered had captured a group of four men who were behaving in a doubtful manner. The four were seen developing an altercation with Selvarathinam before attacking him.
The reports say that Selvarathinam was active for over ten years and he had acted in supporting roles in movies and television serials. He had been acting in the Thenmozhi BA serial, which has been telecasting on Vijay TV since August 2019. Selvarathinam was playing as the villain in this television serial. He was a refugee from Sri Lanka and was surviving by his wife and children, who live in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu.
