While on one hand, the DMK leaders and cadres are welcoming the induction of Udhayanidhi Stalin as a cabinet minister of Tamil Nadu, on the other hand, they are countering the criticisms from the opposition over the dynasty politics. DMK MLA and party's youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin took oath as the cabinet minister on December 14. 

In the oath-taking ceremony that held at Raj Bhavan, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi had administered the oath for Udhayanidhi and while several parties including DMK's allied parties and PMK have attended the ceremony, the opposition parties ADMK and BJP boycotted the ceremony by slamming the DMK government for playing out its dynasty politics. 

Udhayanidhi was appointed as the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development and Special Programme Implementation. DMK celebrated his ministerial elevation across the state and his induction into the cabinet in his very first term of MLA have sparked notion from the opposition that he was inducted as a minister hastily. 

ADMK has also flayed the DMK regime and said that Udhayanidhi's elevation is not going to change the state and alleged that it will only increase the government's corruption. Besides DMK, a league of people including social activists and Dravidian ideologists have backed Udhayanidhi's elevation and lashed out that the BJP and ADMK have no exception from dynasty politics. 

Now, senior DMK Minister KN Nehru's response to the opposition has become the talk of the town. Hitting out at the opposition, Nehru said that the party will even become Udhayanidhi's son if he enters politics. Addressing the reporters during attending a party event in Salem, KN Nehru said, "The credits to uplifting the commoners like me goes to DMK and Karunanidhi's family and won't we be loyal to his family? Not just Udhayanidhi, even if his son (Inbanidhi) comes into politics, we will welcome and hail him." 

Nehru further said that the DMK is the only party that represents all sections of the society. Several ministers have come to give a strong backing to Udhayanidhi. Earlier, while speaking at a party event in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu Minister Thangam Tennarasu said that the opposition parties are in a fear of seeing Udhayanidhi Stalin due to which they are speaking about him. Another minister Periyakaruppan said that Udhayanidhi has all qualities to take part in the cabinet.
